How many glasses of water do you drink a day?

Pretty much, my daily liquid intake consists of 1 cup of milk (with cereal), and two 12oz. diet pepsis. I think I should add some pure water to my diet.

Is everyone's daily water intake as low as mine?

I guzzle down at least 80oz of water everyday. On days like tomorrow where I'll be needing to stay up for at least 48 hours straight, there will be about 400mg of caffiene and at least another 80oz of soda/energy drinks added within that time period. Then there's the huge bowls of cereal that have a lot of milk in them every morning...

I initially had to go urinate every hour or so. I guess my bladder has gotten used to the increased consumption as now I've go only a couple times a day now.

Anywhere from 4-8 times a day. Even has a twisting ring near the top that will count how many bottles you have consumed

One of my new year resolutions was to drink more water... I actually got a nalgene for xmas. I forgot it in a classroom within the first week back from break and haven't seen it since.

Interestingly enough, I never feel dehydrated on such little water drinkage.

how sad is it when drinking water is something you have to make an effort to do?

Did people want to be this way, or is this what the corporations have made us?

I used to be the same way. I would probably have a couple sodas and maybe the milk from that morning's cereal and that was it. Then one day I collapsed in the shower from dehydration... I really enjoy drinking water now... It's very refreshing. It was challenging getting used to the increased consumption afterwards and reminding myself to drink more and more. At first, I would set "deadlines" or goals of when I needed to finish drinking the water in my waterbottle. That helped me get on track. After about a couple weeks or so I adapted and I could tell a huge difference in the way my body felt. I drink 80oz+ of water daily, sometimes adding 1/4 lemon to "spice" it up. I don't feel like I have to make an effort anymore as it all feels natural now. I'm also not hungry as often as I used to be...

In that case, I think i will make me a glass of ice water for bed. I will steal my roommates water bottle out of the cabinet and take it with me in the morning. I just hope I remember to use it... and don't lose it like I did the first. Ha.

I used to not drink water, but for the New Year I thought it'd be better to drink more, so I stopped drinking soda/tea unless it's at lunch, or I'm at a restaurant. Now I take bottles of water with me and drink water all the time around the house. Went from about 0 to probably 60 oz on average

When I'm at the house, I typically guzzle about 2 glasses (probably around 12 oz ea.) of water every 2 or 3 hours. When I'm out, I pretty much drink from every water fountain I see, and before I go to bed I drink as much as I can (3-4 glasses) to help wake me up in the morning

Man, when I'm working on the farm or on a road crew, I can go through a 5 gallon water cooler in 3 days by myself. I bring my own to keep in the truck cause I don't like worrying about drinking everybody else's.

10 hour shift in a ~100 degree kitchen... we have quart containers that i have made into my drink cups... i filled it 7 times today, so assuming some volume loss from ice, i am guessing about 6 quarts.

Forcing yourself to drink water is stupid. Your body will tell you when you need to drink (it's called being thirsty) unless you have an endocrine/renal/etc. issue going on. People going around drinking out of gallon jugs just because the tv told them to is one of the more retarded things I've ever seen.

I drink water non-stop pretty much all day long. Which means I piss non-stop pretty much all day long.

I have never actually added it up, but it's well over a gallon a day. The reason I say that is because we have a 5 gallon water cooler and I change it out twice a week.

It makes a definite difference in the way I feel--I notice that, at the end of the day at work, if I haven't drank any water, I feel sluggish and extremely tired. If I've drank an appropriate amount of water, I feel much, much better. And I'm the type that likes to always have something to sip on at hand, you'll rarely see me without some sort of drink at my desk and I tend to carry a water glass around with me when I'm at home. Water won't make me gain weight like coke/sweet tea and doesn't have mysterious chemicals like diet drinks. Sometimes I do drink unsweet black tea instead if I have any on hand though, but I make it a point to not keep a lot of soda/juice/etc around the house so that when I'm thirsty, water is the primary option.

I usually drink about 2 nalgene bottles' worth at work (say 1.5 L total b/c I can't fill them to the top at the waterfountain) and another 3-4 glasses at home. So I may be around the 80 oz. mark as well.

i take a water bottle to school but not to force myself to drink water

because if i'm thirsty then i have a drink and don't have to buy a bottle of water or a soda. and i can refill it from the water fountain if i drink it all. it is just cheaper than buying bottled water or soda etc

i always drink ~16-24oz with every meal and a gallon while I workout, also taper back my water intake before I go to bed, although I still wake up around 3am to piss, also time to eat some protein

currently on no caffeine or diuretic either, just low sodium and high potassium as best I can...if you ain't pissin clean, you ain't drinkin enough water

I easily drink a 6+ quarts a day on days that I work. Like mawle427 said, drinking ice water is pretty much the only way to stay cool when working in a hot ass kitchen.

maintenance fluids for 90 lbs are about 81 mL/hr * 24 = 1944 mL so about 1/2 of what she's drinking (although you're not even accounting for water in foods) is probably sufficient (except for when losing more, ie: sweating, fever, diarrhea, emesis, etc)

The place I went to dinner last night knows how much water I drink. She just brings the pitcher, I went through two pitchers of water in just one meal. I can throw back some water.

I haven't never had to make an effort to drink more water...I mean I will drink water like it's...well water! All my life I have been known to be a water drinker and I get comments a lot about how much water I can drink. On days when I haven't had as much as normal I have trouble sleeping because I feel so thirsty.

If he is 320 pounds, he NEEDS to drink twice as much as you and I.

***************************************************************************

I drink 600 ml before leaving home for work, and usually 300 ml of tea within an hour of that. After that, I drink 300 ml every time I have to go urinate. That way, I don't have to remember to drink. If I take a leak, I drink a glass.

I don't know how much exactly it is, but my guess is 2.5 to 3 litres daily, closer to 3. I am not working out these days, but when I used to, it was an additional 1 to 1.5 litres.

you're right, the body does tell you when you're thristy

problem is that the signal is nearly identical to the hungry signal and our brains have a hard time telling the difference (grumbling stomach aside)

also the easiest way to tell if you're dehydrated is to look at your pee. if its not clear or very lightly tinted, you need to drink more water. simple as that.
