Anyone else do a field trip here back in the day? I remember it being a half-assed version of Colonial Williamsburg. Wonder if they've stepped up their game over the years.

haha like CMS would have let us go all the way up there. Only out of Charlotte field trip I went on in my k-12 career was a trip to raleigh. we did go to the james k. polk birthplace or whatever it is though, and that was neat and old

I think the indian reservation we went to was out of state in rock hill, but that's still basically Charlotte

^^ Didn't Mrs. Bacon take your class up there? I'm pretty sure a group went way back in the days of Middle School.

when i was a kid, i lived in massachusetts for a while and our field trip would be to Old Sturbridge Village.

One time, I bought a whole bunch of rock candy, and threw up on the way home

I lived in Goldsboro and we went to old New Bern on a field trip one time.

I bought an old-timey nail.

True story.

Highlights from that day include Moravian cookies, rock candy, and an NC Ghost Story book.

had to go there on field trips all the time as a kid. fucking hated it. the only redeeming quality about it was the water pump. somehow i was amused by it.

I remember that field trip being the first time I ever heard my mom talk shit about other children. She was one of the chaperones for our class and I remember her saying at the end of the day something along the lines of, "If those boys were my children I'd have killed myself by now."

the only time my dad ever did anything school-related with me was chaperone for this field trip in 4th(?) grade

all I remember is buying rock candy and some kid in our group touching everything that had a "DO NOT TOUCH" sign on it

[Edited on March 29, 2010 at 8:40 PM. Reason : and my dad getting pissed at that kid]

Us Lincoln County kids got to go to Washington, a ski trip (where I busted my knee), and other little places around us, but never Old Salem. We did go to the Town Creek Indian Mound in Mt. Gilead, in Montgomery County. Unfortunately, it was a day after an F3 tornado went through, so there wasn't much we could do when we were there.
