Somewhere between downtown and the airport. Anyone got any good ideas for a cheap apartment or house for rent?

nope

Piper glenn or ballantyne country club area. Those are really your only options for affordable housing
3/30/2010 12:50:56 PM
hahahahyou'll find LOTS of affordable between uptown and the airport I'd look at uptown and the surrounding neighborhoods (wesley heights, dilworth, southend specifically), and then I'd shift your attention to either steele creek or belmont (not the neighborhood, the town)[Edited on March 30, 2010 at 12:55 PM. ^if I am deciphering the jargon correctly, don't worry. I always do.

I recommend Freedom Drive, or tryon st. Anywhere on Tryon south of uptown will be inexpensive.

^^ I lived in Steel Creek. Or something similarly called. It was across the NC/SC border. It only took me 15 minutes to get to the maintenance hangar.[Edited on March 30, 2010 at 1:12 PM. Reason : If you live off independence blvd. bring yo' gun.]
3/30/2010 1:12:07 PM
you should live in the north.
3/30/2010 1:15:00 PM
I really hope I can take distance classes so that I don't have to move to Charlotte in the fall.
3/30/2010 1:16:41 PM
I've only ever been to Charlotte once, and that was for a grand total of 4 hours. But the downtown area if a lot nicer than Raleigh's.Fareako, how far is where you were from downtown?
3/30/2010 1:39:43 PM
traffic in charlotte sucks balls
3/30/2010 1:43:18 PM
off woodlawn, between south blvd and park road there are some decent areas to live.or tryon, south of tyvola
3/30/2010 1:52:07 PM
I live off Park and Archdale and it's pretty awesome where I live. I wouldn't really want to live much further west though.
3/30/2010 1:53:46 PM
i may be moving to Charlotte near downtown for the summer, we'll see...
3/30/2010 1:56:41 PM
Between the airport and uptown?Don't do it. Just don't.I live in the gateway area (on the west side of uptown, the airport side, if you will). There are several decent apartment complexes there. You can walk to "uptown proper" for drinking on the weekends if that is your thing.I live at Ten05 west trade. They accept section 8 vouchers, which brings down the resident quality a bit, but it is relatively affordable right now. 2BR for <$900/month (when I moved in 2 years ago it was cheap at $1400).But yeah, the section 8 vouchers thing is a downer. There are well-off working professionals living there and people that are on welfare. It is weird.

steele creek ftmfw
3/30/2010 6:04:37 PM
do not live anywhere off of west blvd...their are some nice places off east in the dilworth area or you could stay in the arysley area which is close to the airport. How cheap are you looking at?
3/30/2010 6:08:34 PM
Things near the airport..-coyote joes- adult superstore-multiple hotels that charge by the hour- rim rental store
3/30/2010 6:13:39 PM
belmont is a great place to live if you like being bored. and halloween carnivals.
3/30/2010 7:54:07 PM
Rim rentals sounds great. where do I sign?

4/1/2010 7:27:20 PM
Come on GUISE
6/8/2010 4:59:21 PM
steele creek ftmfw representit's not between downtown and the airport, but it's very easy to get to both locations.plus, you don't have to own a gun to be safe as the crime rate isn't that high and there isn't much low income housing

I got a job offer (still need to accept) out in Locust but looking to live in East Charlotte. Have a few places in mind near Hwy 24/27 and near exit 39 off of 485. Any other places to check out?

10/10/2010 10:45:00 AM

10/10/2010 10:47:22 AM
^ Yes. East of Charlotte.
10/10/2010 10:49:02 AM
uptown has some pretty pricey spots but if you live near the light rail you can just hop on and head towards uptown. a friend of mine used to live in this place called salem village and they liked it a lot...dilworth area[Edited on October 10, 2010 at 11:27 AM. Reason : s]
