are baby carrots really big carrots just cut down into babies?

i like baby carrots because they are easy

but its so much cheaper just to buy a bag of big carrots and peel and slice them.

*SIGH*

Spend the extra money. Even if you eat carrots regularly the difference will only come out to a few bucks a month.

[Edited on March 31, 2010 at 10:30 PM. Reason : Unless you binge on some motherfucking carrots.]

"A baby carrot is an immature carrot; a baby cut carrot, known popularly thanks to effective marketing also as a "baby carrot", is a mature carrot that has been cut and peeled in the "baby-cut" style. These carrots are commonly ground up instead of actually being "made" into the baby carrots we know of today."

Quote :
"Taking waste from fully grown carrots and pressing them to make them smaller was the idea of California farmer Mike Yurosek.[2] Yurosek was unhappy at having to discard carrot waste because of slight rotting or imperfections, and looked for a way to reclaim what would otherwise be a waste product, so he created the original baby carrot, branded "Bunny-Luv"."

And now we know! They're the refuse no one wanted to buy before lol.

Strawberry Smoothie - take about 5-7 frozen strawberries and put them in a blender. Add just enough non-fat milk to cover them. Blend. Enjoy ... (Rice or soy milk, and or orange juice, works fine too. But I prefer strawberries and milk for it's pure simplicity.)

if you make smoothies with bananas you can buy overripe bananas from the grocery store for basically free

just come home, peel them and put them in the freezer in a big ziploc

then break off whatever you need when you want them

since making smoothies can be fucking expensive, it helps.

after runs/workouts i make one (and often use it as a dinner, since it's fucking huge) with a cup of greek yogurt, 1/2cup acai, 1/2cup protein added soy milk, 2 nanners, 1/2 cup of three different frozen fruits (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, mango, peach, raspberries, other things, but the redder the better)

put the liquids int he blender at the bottom, then the yogurt, stack up the frozen stuff, and leave out (or in the fridge) when you go out, for like an hour to get a good consistency w/o overworking the blender (i have a shitty blender)

and eggs aren't bad for you either, despite what everyone says about cholesterol. They are a cheap source of protein and those who eat eggs several mornings a week, don't have ridiculous cholesterol and don't feel super hungry throughout the day.

but what is your goal? weightloss? getting shredded? preventing heartattacks? keep blood pressure normal?

for shredding: 2 scoops protein powder, water, dry oats, ANPB mixed together... makes something like a cookie dough and tastes amazing. No need for cooking or cooling.

for weightloss: cut 100% carbs. chicken chicken chicken.

oh my god i have rediscovered oatmeal.

it is delicious, nutritious (i think?) AND it keeps me full for like the whole day. this morning i ate oatmeal at like 7am and i wasn't even hungry again until around 10 or 11pm. i didn't even feel like snacking which is like something i usually do throughout the day.

now i'm eating another bowl for dinner cause i am kinda starved at this point.

mmm oatmeal. WITH BLACKBERRIES!!!

I second the red peppers! Nerdchick grew bell peppers in her garden, but it was too much to wait on them to turn red. Theyve been on sale a food lion lately...

hmmm...also, walnuts...fucking love them

i've just recently been starting to get into fruit. is fruit good for you?

i've always been a veggie person but i've started buying bananas and berries to put on cereal (shredded wheat) and in oatmeal and yogurt.
