I can understand by the music videos in the mid 90's why you would say he wasn't, but that is when the band was driven by money. I have interviews of Chris and Rich Robinson during the early-mid 90's and they talk the exact same way then they do now. Chris Robinson is famous for talking to the crowd in drugged out philosophies.

just because The Crowes play 20 minute jams and don't produce radio-ready hits doesn't mean that they're not money-driven

i know they love us, but you can't say that doing 20-30 tour dates per year for the last 5 years is simply for "the love of the game"
