Having a hard time picking a place to go eat in Greensboro for my bday tomorrow. TWW, you decide. I'm game for any kind of food.

make sure you ask for daughtry sauce
4/5/2010 3:47:32 PM
I'm not paying. So.. any.
4/5/2010 3:47:40 PM
^ then DEFINITELY Leblon
4/5/2010 3:48:21 PM
4/5/2010 3:48:49 PM
Leblon unless for some reason you don't like meat. if that is the case go to 1618 West for some seafood
4/5/2010 3:51:42 PM
On Market. But if you aren't looking for a ton of meat, then let me know what type of food you had in mind and I can suggest some good ones.I really like The Bistro and Marisol as well, but both are really fucking expensive. But again, money is no object it seems.

Ruth ChrisGate City ChophouseLucky 32 <---my favOf course for atmosphere you've got places like Natty Green.Leblon is amazing, but it's freaking $Texas. And if someone in your group doesn't like meat medium-rare to medium they'll be disappointed. Half the time I was stuffing my face a certain party member waited patiently for what ended up being like 2 bites of well done steak. However I love meat cooked properly and put back 5 different kinds of animal - woo woo Lamb, Cow, Shrimp, Turkey, Pig.
4/5/2010 3:59:49 PM
The Bistro is looking like a pretty solid choice. I'm kind of thinking something spicy. I remember going to Salvino's and getting a jalapeno chicken pasta, which was all over amazing. Just dunno if I'm feeling pasta.Really appreciating all the good suggestions so far.Ruth Chris and Lucky 32 are both awesome. Gonna try finding a menu for Natty Greens online..[Edited on April 5, 2010 at 4:02 PM. Reason : .][Edited on April 5, 2010 at 4:03 PM. Reason : ]

Salvino's is the best Italian in Greensboro imo. Before they moved in there it was the best Thai restaurant in Greensboro.^ I wouldn't do Natty's for your birthday. The food is OK there, but nothing special.[Edited on April 5, 2010 at 4:06 PM. Reason : a]

Some of my favorite places in greensboro are all over in the elm st area - natty greens, greys, and mcouls. I also used to love richys but I think it's gone. I don't know much about pricier options, but I've heard good things about green valley grill and gate city chophouse, though I've never been to either
4/5/2010 4:05:36 PM
Green Valley Grill is ok, but not worth the money imo
4/5/2010 4:06:48 PM
Yea Nattys is a place you'll only have a good time if you pack it full of friends and family to drown out the bar crowd. But I love having business lunches and hanging out there. Plus decent local beer.Lucky 32, to me, is still the reigning champ - mostly due to their fresh menu. Every time I go in the chef's special is to die for. That duck last time may have been the best thing I've put my lips on ever closely followed by the lamb from there.Dang... I need to get back up in that joint. Awesome spot.
4/5/2010 4:10:20 PM
Personally, I love going to Pastabilities on Battleground. It is kind of a hole in the wall Italian joint, but I love the small feel to it. Plus they have awesome pasta and a pretty good wine selection. Just my two cents...
4/5/2010 4:10:59 PM
What about printworks or fleming's? I don't know much about them, had a friend who worked in the kitchen at both. Aren't they suppsed to be higher end?
4/5/2010 4:50:20 PM
I ate at Green Valley Grill last night actually--a bit pricey, yes, but damn good. My girlfriend had a whole roasted branzini that was freaking amazing.Lucky 32 is probably my favorite restaurant in Greensboro though--similar menu to GVG in a lot of ways but less expensive. They're actually owned the the same group, Quaintance Weaver Hospitality, so the similarity isn't surprising. Quaintance also owns the Proximity/Print Works Bistro, so I'd expect good things there too. (Probably going to try Print Works for my birthday this year, my parents live in gboro so we usually go out somewhere when I come home...)
4/5/2010 4:58:51 PM
Much. The food is not super exciting, but half naked chicks dance with fire during your meal. and there's a club on the roof.
4/5/2010 7:10:54 PM
Bert's Seafood. Always had good food there.
4/5/2010 7:57:33 PM
i would also like suggestions for where to go after graduation!!my grad is may 23 at 3pm so it should be done by 5 i'd think?! but that is a sunday so it could impact restaurant choices. i can't really decide if we should eat dinner here or if i should just go back to raleigh and eat. but i think i might wanna go get crunk with my classmates after graduation maybe? so i'm thinking of staying here that night.probably 6 - 10 people would be going to dinner. if eating in raleigh we'd prob do the angus barn or something.
4/5/2010 8:07:05 PM
^wait, you're at UNCG? 'Cause that would 'splain a lot
4/5/2010 8:11:51 PM

where did you go?
4/20/2010 10:44:12 PM
man i'm having issueslike nowhere downtown is open sunday for dinner that i want to go.there's nattys - but they don't take reservations i have never eaten at mccouls. is it good?i've eaten only appetizers at europa does anyone remember what the price range is and what the menu is like (no website durrrr).after grad we were looking to go somewhere downtown but we have a group of 16ish people and my dad is paying. and it would be for dinner so we were trying not to go somewhere too $$$. undercurrent isn't even open sundays and that was a little too pricey for that many people i feel like. sigh.
5/4/2010 5:08:58 PM
mccoul's is pretty good... about the same price range as natty's (i think) but i'm not sure they take reservations. i also like grey's next to natty's but it's even more casual so i'm not sure you're going for that. is richy's still open? i think i've asked that before but never figured it out. it's next to mccoul's. they had a party/banquet room and the food is good too.[Edited on May 4, 2010 at 5:46 PM. 5/4/2010 5:45:33 PM
i have NO idea. i've never heard of it so maybe no?i don't WANT to go to mccouls but i suggested it to my dad. i also suggested lucky 32 even though that isn't my FAV it could totally work and is like 1 second from my house.trying to think of other places is hard cause its not like i'm going out to eat to fancy restaurants.liberty oak but i'm not sure if its open on sundays and it is $$$ - i mean burgers and sandwiches and salads are fine but they also have like steak and shit and you can't like take people out to eat and prohibit them from ordering that. i just feel bad i don't want my dad to have to drop like $1000 on dinner.
5/4/2010 6:03:18 PM
^What about the Mellow Mushroom?
5/4/2010 6:13:18 PM
yea i thought about that i kinda didn't want to go to a chain place. i know there is a lucky 32 in cary but the other one is here and there are mellow mushroom's everywhere - not EVERYWHERE but i mean in the south. so i wanted to do something different. plus like with 16 people i don't know that everyone wants pizza type stuff (its like my grandparents and stuff haha). its definitely a plan of last resort though. i was just trying to find something else. however that isn't ruled out!its just hard!! i've found several places i'd want to go but are closed on sunday. blah.i really wish natty greene's would reserve tables for a party since we have 16 people. they rent that upstairs 3rd story room but you need a minimum of 25 people. boo. because i think that would be fun.
5/4/2010 6:21:23 PM
i used to LOVE anton's on battleground. i think the menu and management have changed since the last time i've been but it's definitely a good place for a group, they take reservations (or used to), and it's not too expensive.
5/4/2010 6:25:02 PM
awesome i just sent that link to my dad! so far i've sent him: brixx pizza, lucky 32, cafe europa, liberty oak, ganache (kinda expensive but i dunno i was running out of options!), mellow mushroom, mccouls, village tavern, and now anton'shopefully one of those will work don't you think?! i feel bad because people trying to take stress OFF of me is putting stress ON me. eric's mom, my aunt (who is like a second mom, too), my dad's gf (just weird, i mean she's nice that relationship is weird though) are all like not arguing but disagreeing over whether to do brunch or dinner and then my dad wants to treat everyone to dinner and so they're all emailing ME and they're trying to be nice and make life easier for me but its actually making it worse haha. and then it makes me think about how if my mom was here she would just have solved this problem in an instant cause that is what moms do and then i start stressing about everything. WHEW. stress city. when exams are over iw on't be this like basketcase of stress anymore.
5/4/2010 6:32:34 PM
pastabilities on battleground (near moe's?? i think??) is also pretty good. lots of different options and priced about the same as your other choices. and it's locally owned, like anton's (i think?)[Edited on May 4, 2010 at 6:37 PM. Reason : lots of I THINKS in regard to my greensboro knowledge these days!]
5/4/2010 6:37:39 PM
I second Anton's. My Girlfriend in High School worked there. That place used to be THE SPOT when the Janus Theater was still there.
5/4/2010 6:43:32 PM
I go to Cafe Europa for date night alot with the boyfriend. It always delivers. There is always Printworks, same chef as Green Valley Grill, the one attached to Proximity. They have mussel night with live music every Wednesday which is fun. I like it a little more than GVG. Chef Jay at Lucky 32's (in Greensboro) is amazingly awesome though, and always has kick ass specials. I was talking with him this afternoon about some delicious stuff he has up his sleeveI eat McCoules at least once a week. Its my one of my favorite places in Greensboro, and the patio is awesome.
5/4/2010 6:52:33 PM
They have a Mellow Mushroom
5/4/2010 6:54:50 PM
If you don't mind a bit of a drive, Marisol and Bistro on the Jamestown end of High Point Rd are fantastic. A bit pricey, though.
5/4/2010 7:08:24 PM
Ive eaten at Sticks and Stones. It came highly recommended and I felt the expectations were met.
5/4/2010 7:15:51 PM
^ is that the pizza place over near UNCG? I heard that place is good, i need to give it a try. I ate at the Filling Station across the street a couple weeks ago and wasn't impressed.
