i know we have a friendly rivalry with the students down the road, but the duke students really deserved the win they were given tonight

those students have worked really hard to get where they are and have faced some really adverse situations throughout their lives....hats off to the blue devils

I'm pretty sure the OP was being sarcastic, and I get it. Watching the post game shots of Cameron I thought "what the hell are they so happy about, it's not like actually won anything?". Then I remembered I'd probably act similarly if NCSU won a national championship.

I understand the sarcasm of the OP, but some of those kids (huge emphasis on some) actually dont come from upper-middle class families. My cousin worked her ass off to get good grades in high school and a ton of scholarships so she could attend Duke, even working part time to pay tuition. Her family is by no means poor, but she didnt have the luxury of just going to Duke because of her parent's wallets.

But from visiting her at Duke, there are a good amount of stuck-up rich kids, so carry on.

but then, i never got any scholarships to duke (got a few offers from other schools, just not duke)...sometimes working hard for good grades means working hard to be better than those who get good grades, so that you're the top

I got an offer to Duke, but it wasn't a full ride and I was on my own for college.

MovieGuru's cousin probably also had some kickass SAT scores and extracirriculars, probably never slept in high school and I'm guessing she went to a private school, which would give her an immediate edge.

I was on top in high school (like literally top of my class)...still just didn't give enough of a shit to go to duke.

Nor did I work hard...

HS is a joke..which is why I am not super proud of my accomplishment.
