Slash could have easily broke out into a Conan O'Brien shirt mid song and received WAAAAAAY more publicity than he did playing for playing on Jay Leno and wearing his dinky TEAM CoCo button

Not to mention that Slash is already a fixture in Leno's fans' generation, maybe not so much in the younger O'Brien fanbase. If you ask me, it would have been a risky PR move that if planned out carefully would have made a lot of money with online video hits and such.
