I really don't like shakespear...I have never been a big fan of reading that shit...I mean if it got translated into modern day english I would probably be all for it...but even when I see the plays in person I have no clue what is going on, I get so lost on what they are saying.

as much as I can understand this viewpoint from some people (ie not trying to be "elitist" at all or anything), Shakespeare would lose a huge portion of his awesomeness if you are reading a rehashing in "modern day" English. Yes the stories themselves are good, but he is not still praised and studied today simply because he had good story ideas and characters. His actual writing style: witticisms, word play, excellent word chose and structure, etc. are a huuugge chunk of why he is still studied today.

To me Shakespeare is like tomatos and cucumbers...I don't like them, not at all, but I wish I did.

I wish I liked Shakespeare, but I am just so turned off by trying to read or even pay attention to that english that anytime I get near it I force myself to go through it and I end up not liking it even more.

Oh yeah, gots that...

but yeah, whenever I say that I don't like Shakespeare there is always someone in the crowd that thinks I might as well say that I like fucking a dead person's eyeball.
I'm like it's really not that big of a deal, I just don't like it. That doesn't mean that I don't enjoy reading plays and I don't enjoy watching plays, it just means that I don't like a particular playwriter.

I envy people that like them...I wish I did. Everyone in my family loves fresh tomato sandwhiches, or even just a slice of tomato...not me, anytime I try it, it's like

I think it's just the texture for me though, like I like the soup, and ketchup, and even salsa (as long as it isn't too chunky)
