How did you find your job? Were you excited to get it? Or is it just something you do for a paycheck?

Found it as an internship through a professor who sent job leads to all her former students. Interned summer of '07, kept on working through my last semester, went full time in January '08. I was excited to get the internship and glad they could keep me on later because I like it here.

I was recommended for my job by a colleague of my mom's. He had been given total control of hiring for the position, and after 3 interviews with school administration, I was in. This is my 10th year, and I definitely enjoy it.

My resume was floating around. I got a call on my cell phone one day from a HR guy at my facility... he had seen some of my research, and was interested in flying me up for an interview.

Yes, very excited. This is what I actually like doing
and yes, it pays the bills

I was contacted by a headhunter who found my resume on monster. I was unhappy with my job, but I lied and told the guy I was very satisfied with my job but would be willing to leave if the $$$ was right (even though I really loved the sound of the new job).

After my interview with the company, I got a call back from the headhunter within 15 minutes. They loved me. I accepted the job immediately. Love it!

I like the paycheck, but I also find the work fulfilling. And I also do it for the corporate travel discounts.

im a grad student and i do get paid which is nice, but i also am pretty much the lab bitch. I technically am higher up than an undergrad, but at the end of the day, the undergrads get to go home and smoke weed and bang hottie freshman while i have to stay in the lab and fix all the shit they broke.

I went to an education fair where different colleges/universities had booth set up to attract students. However, I went there with several copies of my resume to look for a job with those institutions. One of them sounded promising (one of the professors was there and he said he would forward my resume to the Dean), and I heard back after 10 days to come for an interview.

Yes, excited to get it.

Not excited currently. I do enjoy it, but it has gotten pretty monotonous and frustrating as well, and I think I will reach my limit in 2 more years (5 total years).

for the job i start in june:

my dad works for the company. some folks asked him what my summer plans were a couple summers ago and he told them i was looking for an internship. they told me to apply. i applied, interviewed, got it and interned the next summer as well. i let them know on my way out last summer that i would be graduating this may and would like to continue to work with them. they explained this particular engineer training program to me and it sounded good to me. they let me know i got one of the two spots in october or november, i forget.

yes

yes

for the part-time campus job i have:

TWW

i was/am glad i got it, but i wouldn't say "excited"

PRSA jobs board

VERY excited to get it. This job is a pretty big raise (even with the cost-of-living increase) and promotion over my last job.

I never really expected to hear back about it. It was a position that looked like it was interesting, but it was a job in a big city (DC) on posting board for a huge organization.

Three days after I applied, I got a call for an interview. Offered the job two days after that. Three weeks later I moved to DC.

Found the job through blindly applying online.

I design spaceships all day, so I was (and still am) very excited to have it.

Money isn't too bad either.

I have 3 jobs actually

1. grad student. I'm finishing up my PhD in solar energy/chemistry here at state.

2. sports business I started with a friend a few years ago. He helped me get started and I am now on my own and it's a lot of fun. Doesn't make very much but I get to go to lots of NFL games for free .

3. I recently took over the family business. Land management firm in the midwest, contracts out farmers to a bunch of land my grandparents owned which I inherited when they passed a few years ago. This is where I earn the majority of my income

Career Center on campus.

Yes.

In a perfect world I'd rather be a full-time musician or writer...but for a 40hr+/wk job, Engineering is pretty fulfilling and the challenges at least change on a regular basis

I fuck around in this lab during the day. Then I go home, smoke weed, and bang hottie freshman while some stick in the mud has to stay in the lab and fix all the shit I broke for the fun of it.

Networking.
At first, then I realized I wasn't making enough and moved on.
My current job is awesome and I love it. Plus the money is tight.

I just make fun of twilight, ask her where she got her outfit with a smug look on my face, and then compliment her while walking away towards my car. GREAT SUCCESS

1. For my last two jobs, I had my resume out on Monster/HotJobs/Careerbuilder, etc. Get a phone call from HR Manager / Recruiter. Interview shortly after, and then new job. Both times I was "looking" for a new job, but I never applied for the one I got.

2. Yes

3. No. Not just for a paycheck (but if paychecks stop, I'm heading somewhere else)
