i didn't have my license and went through one of these a few years ago, got a $100 ticket. showed up to court, showed them my license, walked out of the courtroom.

huge waste of time for everyone involved

^ agreed. They can pull up your record on their computer and see that you do, in fact, have a valid driver's license. Giving you a ticket that they know is just going to get thrown out is a total waste.
