The band isn't really responsible for the drum tuning. That lies with the drum tech or the drummer (presumably the latter considering the venue's description). There are also different types of snares, some of which produce higher notes than others.He could have just been playing a piccolo or popcorn snare. Maybe he prefers his snare cranked.
