You have a job and you go to school.Your job is pressuring you to quit school and focus more on your work so that you can get a promotion and earn more money. The promition you will get will put your salary equal or higher than an entry level position with a college degree. You will earn more money but it will take much much longer to get a college degree.Would you quit school and take the job?I would in a heartbeat.

Not surebut if you're asking for you, you've worked too hard to get your grades back up to just back out now IMHO

Fuck your employer, get dat degree. That is all.
4/20/2010 8:30:49 AM
Dumb idea to quit school imo. The short term benefits may be there, but in the long run you'll hit the glass ceiling without a bachelor's degree.

Haha no, it's not for me...It's this stupid homework assignment I've gotten and that what the question...It was asking what I would tell a 25 year old who has yet to have a successful semester in college to do. I said that I would tell him to take the job and save his money in case he needs to attend college later on in life.I mean I know how I feel at 22 with out a degree yet and getting closer but starting to feel burnt out by being in school and always being broke. I can imagine how a 25 year old would feel being in an even worse position than I am in.[Edited on April 20, 2010 at 8:33 AM. Reason : ]

To fully answer a question like this, you'd need to put some real figures into the situation. How much is the salary he'll be earning if he keeps the job, what is he paying for school, how much longer does he have in school, what is the potential income from the job that a degree would get him, what is the potential income of the current job, etc. Dave Ramsey (total money makeover dude) gives good advice to people on questions like this all the time, but he takes into account real $$ before making a decision.Getting a degree just to have degree is not always the answer. The debt that comes from college can be significant and actually change the cost benefit analysis in a situation like this. Plus you have to factor in stuff like happiness and stability - which career would make the person happier and which career is more stable.[Edited on April 20, 2010 at 8:40 AM. Reason : xcv]

Yeah this class I'm taking is really a huge waste of time and I have to answer stupid questions on what I would tell someone to do in a certain situation.I had one question where it saidThis bitch likes to study in a group and the professor said they can use old tests to study, but then her friend comes to the study group with a test dated for this semester, she said the professor told her she could use it. When the bitch goes to take the test she realizes is the exact same thing that she studied. What should she do?I wanted to say, she was dumb enough to think it was okay to study with that test she deserves whatever happens to her, or she shouldn't say anything about it...but I had to give some stupid response.

If college kid drops school to work for company A, and then company A goes out of business, then college kid has to find a new job without the added benefit of a college degree.

I'd say stay in school. Long term benefits, man....

Is " I would mind my own damn business." not a valid answer?

It's a stupid class that community college make you take no matter how many credits you already have. It's like a success and study skills class. It's the biggest waste of time class known to man. We sit in there for 20 mins and listen to the teacher tell us that school is important, and then he gives up 30 mins to read to ourselves. Then we have to answer these stupid questions.I mean I know that this is my 5th year of school, but I've finally gotten the hang of how to do it, I don't think I need this class.I had to answer a question like "What do you think the difference will be like if you go to a 4 year university?"I was like, you don't have to take classes like this that waste your time.[Edited on April 20, 2010 at 8:51 AM.
