that you love them?

I was just thinking about it, and I can't remember the last time I said it to them..I mean I've told other people that I love my brothers but I don't know when I've actually said it to their face.

I don't think I've ever told my brother that I love his sorry, fat, unemployed ass.

See, I am too. At least with my Mom, Dad and Sister. I talk to them nearly daily to this day despite us all living apart.

But I honestly can't remember the last time I have told any member of my family that I love them. I do, I just don't express it. I really don't express it much to ANYONE in my life and haven't ever been able to do that.

oh, i don't think you have to do it in order to "prove" that you mean it...i had a friend growing up who lost her dad really young and she ALWAYS made it a point to tell her mother and sisters that she loved them...at some point i began to feel like it was something i wanted to do, too, for them to hear it

it's funny because i'll be talking to one of my brothers on the phone and say "love you" at the end and sometimes people i'm with will ask if it's my fiancée and then give me a funny look when i tell them it's my brother

My brothers and sister would all call me a fag if I told them I loved them. We're a very roughneck group that grew up poor and downtrodden in the ravages of PG County. We're also all very different people.

last time I told my bro I loved him was my bday a few weeks ago

I don't say it often, but when I do I definitely mean it.

we hug every time we see each other--greeting and goodbye. it's a habit that my SIL rubbed off on all of us now I hug all my friends and family, and nearly every time I see them, as a greeting and farewell.

I tell my mom I love her after every phone conversation and hug her every time I leave to come back to Raleigh. I tell my niece and nephew I love them a lot and hug and kiss them a lot, but I can't think of a single time that I've told any of my siblings I love them.

[Edited on April 21, 2010 at 11:51 AM. Reason : Actually, september 11th 2008 I told one of my sisters I love her]

^ You should have said, "Just kidding, I didn't say that," so that we still think you fucked your sister, you degenerate henagon.

i actually don't say it that often.... we're the type of family where we show our love/affection by making fun of each other and doing nice things.

ie - my sister had a baby so my other sister and i cleaned the house and cooked her dinners after she got back from the hospital.

we also see each other minimum once a week... so saying it every time would get annoying

quagmire02 hates his family, and he told me he never wants to see them again.

To comment, I rarely ever talk to my siblings. Far less than I talk to my parents, which is still only once a month or every other month. We all get busy, I'm half a continent away. It's just how it is. Family means a lot to me, but we don't necessarily have to talk all the time to keep close, if that makes sense.

My brother and I talk on average once a week. Last month he texted me something to the effect of "I love you and you're a great brother" or something. I didn't know what to say back to him, so I never texted back. It was nice hearing it, but we aren't all sappy and shit. I'll say love you to my parents when I get off the phone, and I think I do it to him too, but it was just really random in that txt.

i tell my grandmother "i love you" before i leave every time i go and see her lately. she's really sick, the cancer is beating her, and it could be any day now.

i used to say "love you" to my mom when i talked to her on the phone when i didn't live in RM, but not as much anymore. mom is kind of the primary caretaker for my grandma now, and whenever grandma has a really bad day mom will tell me she loves me at the end of a conversation. of course i always reply back with "love you too".

now for the actual question, my brother told me he loved me several months ago. i don't remember what was going on at the time but it's a rare occurrence. he hugged me and told me he loved me, & i answered back. that was awesome and it really meant a lot. it was kinda weird though lol. i do love my brother and we get along very well.

I tell my sister/parents that I love them after every call/meeting. I also say "drive safe" to almost everyone after I see them and know they're going somewhere because my best friend in high school died in a car crash and since then my logic has been you never know when/if you'll see someone again so leave it positive

i say it to grandparents (well grandmother - i only have one left now), my dad, uncles/aunts etc whenever i have a phone convo with them at the end of the convo.

i don't talk to my brother that much on the phone we usually text but if we have a phone convo we say it at the end or if we leave a message.

i think we've definitely learned over the past year that life is unexpected and you might not get another chance to say it. definitely cliche but it has been true for my family so...at the risk of being cheesy i say it whenever i talk to someone i love on the phone.

this is my philosophy as well. When I love someone, I say it, even if things get weird. I try to NEVER end a phone conversation with anything but "I love you" to people that I love. Other people that I don't know so well, I always say "Later" or "have a good day". It is typically never "Bye."

^^ exactly. i've had 4 convos over the past year that i didn't expect to be the last with someone that ended up being the last or ALMOST ended up being the last. 2 ended up being the last and both people i got to say i love you to in a regular conversation which was great because now i won't go the rest of my life wishing i had said it.

and then 2 could have been the last but luckily weren't so now i tell my dad i love him everytime we talk on the phone and my brother too just because i'm like on edge waiting for the next bad thing to happen...now i like expect it so i make sure to say it every chance i get!!

Almost every time I see them face-to-face. Stuff like that is important to me. Lil' bro needs to know he's got somewhere to turn no matter what he's in - even when calling mom/dad is probably not his first instinct

I tell my sister I love her all the time. But I also tell her she's insane and no amount of pharamceuticals seems to keep the anxiety away when she's around.
