I used to get strep yearly as a kid. Then, when I got mono in high school, I was surprised how much the throat inflammation/difficulty swallowing was similar to strep. Fortunately I haven't had to deal with strep for a while.

I used to have chronic strep/tonsillitis. Then I had my tonsils removed several years ago and have had ZERO problems since then.
