JK! Some fucking how she has survived extreme drug abuse unlike such folks as Billy Mays who I love! But she should still get props...she is definitely in the Jimi Hendrix Janis Joplin Bradley Nowell camp...and don't hate on my Sublime reference...dude lived and breathed music...ibFroshKillerAmy has too many skills though...its a shame a lot of people only know her as a drugged up paparazzi shit and not her AMAZING vocals and pipes, definitely is a skilled singer in this american idol era of contrived bullshita few references cited:http://youtube.com/watch?v=MsON0tbNzqA (song is about weed)http://youtube.com/watch?v=fepbbiFqA08 (song is about her pet bird who dipped)http://youtube.com/watch?v=sZo8gUCt2hM (song is about some real shit, making love wise)]

You were supposed to post a picture of Vanessa Carlton and caption it "Good night, sweet princess".]
5/5/2010 2:56:13 AM
Whoa whoa whoa. She's as skilled as Sublime?!Holyshit, that must make her, like, a recognizeably mediocre artist credited as something more important than her talent really amounts to!Damn, I'm so glad we can claim her as a great artist of our generation. She most definitely deserves to be compared to Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix, who are obviously her contemporaries.
5/5/2010 2:56:25 AM
Amy is ahead of Sublime in pure talent, but maybe you didn't grow up in teh 90s and "get" 40 oz or their self titled joint...thats coolthe point of this thread isn't Sublime its Amy's great vocals which unfortunately get overshadowed by her drug use and assault charges and other shit that take away from her great talentalso why hate on these jamshttp://youtube.com/watch?v=kxGh6VGxuw0http://youtube.com/watch?v=fvEj5iZMEpU]
5/5/2010 2:59:26 AM
They were a mediocre band. There's tons of them out there. They're not legends, and they don't deserve to be in the same sentence with Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix. Neither does Amy Winehouse. This was my claim. I stick by it. I don't hate Sublime, but you're giving them waaaaaaaay too much credit.
5/5/2010 3:26:21 AM
I agree. I loved their music growing up, but Sublime's reputation definitely benefited from Bradley's death in that their stock as a band rests substantially on the possibility of what might have been.Much like Nirvana.

5/5/2010 8:41:14 AM
wait "ibfroshkiller" wtf is that supposed to mean
5/5/2010 8:43:24 AM
It's a shame Amy's drug use will overshadow her talents. Her Back to Black album is awesome, with Rehab actually being one of the lesser songs.
5/5/2010 10:05:50 AM
i'm sad that janis joplin's recordings outlived her
5/5/2010 10:11:49 AM

5/5/2010 12:54:47 PM
did someone just compare brad nowell's simple-ass stoner plunk-alongs to kurt fucking cobain?you people
5/5/2010 1:17:57 PM
no way Amy is anywhere near where Sublime was at their peak.
5/5/2010 1:21:15 PM
LOL
5/5/2010 1:22:05 PM
i know you're trollingbut i'm just going to say this because i've never said it anywhereamy winehouse has one stone cold brilliant pop record under her beltwhich is exactly one more than sublime, even if you culled their entire catalog to assemble the best 32 minutes of musicsure, it's mostly due to mark ronson and the dap-kings, but whatever
5/5/2010 1:24:38 PM
I wonder if Netstorm's age is correct in his profile...cause if so he was 3 years old when 40 oz came out...he must be an expert^you never heard Frank? cause its better than Back to Black]
5/5/2010 1:25:43 PM
frank is okay, but it's not really a pop recordand it's certainly not better than back to black
5/5/2010 1:52:15 PM
your opinion that its not better than Back to Black is certainly wrongI just hope old girl puts out another album before her inevitable overdose death]
5/5/2010 1:53:13 PM
on that point we agree
5/5/2010 2:01:27 PM
5/5/2010 2:03:24 PM
Damn TreeTwista10 caught me, I copied another user's opinion about a widely agreed upon mediocrity, and I totally never listened to the band at all! I'm just a sham! WHY IS MY LIFE BREAKING DOWN AROUND ME?Quickly vinylbandit, we can't stay here, he knows the secret to music criticism!
5/5/2010 2:11:13 PM
You do realize this thread is about Amy Winehouse? Its not about your raging hard on for explaining how shitty you think Sublime is.]
5/5/2010 2:17:11 PM
5/5/2010 2:19:45 PM
Sublime comes in around number 15 for me of most listened to artist. Also I was not trolling, who gives a fuck about a "pop belt"; Sublime owns Amy. She hasn't even died yet.
5/5/2010 2:46:28 PM
if Bradley Nowell were still alive, no one would talk about Sublime
5/5/2010 2:48:22 PM
Badfish>Sublime.
5/5/2010 2:49:05 PM
maybe i just liked smoking weed in the mid 90s more than yall so therefore Sublime clicked with me during my wild teenage yearsbut thats not the point of the thread, the point is that Amy Winehouse has mad talent, yet some people fail to realize that because they only see her as the tabloid mess posted around the internet and television, and not the chick with the super awesome voice
5/5/2010 2:50:39 PM
"Back to Black" is a great song
5/5/2010 2:51:36 PM
5/5/2010 3:02:44 PM
and creative ability.
5/5/2010 3:06:37 PM
Sublime didn't wear enough flannel
5/5/2010 3:07:11 PM
kurt cobain wrote really angry beatles songsplunk along my ass
5/5/2010 3:37:59 PM
kurt cobain wrote really angry mediocre beatles songs
5/5/2010 4:03:41 PM
one of my songs that i've been listening to a lot these days is "back to black" by amy winehousesuper catchylet me quote you a line"its not enough that you love blow and i love puff"lol
5/5/2010 4:04:57 PM
yeah its funny she's still acting like her man is the only cokehead in the relationshipunless she's talking about puffing crack, in which case, my bad[Edited on May 5, 2010 at 4:07 PM. Reason : .]
5/5/2010 4:05:53 PM
i really like Frankim not all that into back to blackFrank is so much better IMO, probably because she was clean
5/5/2010 5:38:45 PM
often times an artist's debut album is their besti agree that this is the case with amy
5/5/2010 5:40:29 PM
they're different enough that one's preference can be attributed to a preference in style as much as the quality of one over another
