DMX isnt much of a "rapper"

Lyrics are important but only a small piece of the pie. Look at Bone. You can't understand what the fuck they're saying and they're still some of my favorite rappers of all time. With DMX, sure, he isn't coming up with any complex rhyme schemes that will make you pull out your thesaurus. But he's not going for that. He's going for the shit that makes you want to fight somebody, that gets you pumped up before a game. "Niggas wanna try/niggas wanna lie/then niggas wonder why/niggas wanna die" isn't anything ground breaking, but it fits into what he's trying to accomplish.

I understand if you don't like his style, I understand if you're not a fan. But he was one of the most successful and acclaimed rappers of the past dozen years, and there's a reason for that.
