Speaking as one of the 10 people who actually paid to see The Hurt Locker in theaters this pisses me off. OK so you didn't make any money even though you made a good movie, BIG FUCKING DEAL. Life isn't fair, and good movies don't always get the box office numbers they deserve but you don't need to go around suing people because of it.
5/12/2010 11:36:49 PM
ah, not this shit again!I got so tired of hearing about this stuff with napster. Now everyone who has ever downloaded a movie illegally will have to be wondering if their IP address is gonna pop up.Guess it's time to open up the wifi.
5/12/2010 11:41:30 PM
People that download this movie are dumb as shit and should be upset that they missed one of the top three theater experiences of last year along with Inglourious Basterds and I-don't-know-what-else.
5/12/2010 11:42:59 PM
I downloaded it because I'm in Japan and that movie is coming out here never. Good thing I live in Japan where the law says you're allowed to download music and movies
5/12/2010 11:53:45 PM
5/13/2010 12:17:05 AM
I downloaded it and saw it in theaters... twice.
Good thing I only download popular movies.
5/13/2010 12:21:21 AM
Information wants to be free.
5/13/2010 12:24:48 AM
Wonder what the settlement will be...
5/13/2010 12:28:55 AM
against-a-class action. every person who downloaded the movie pays 5 bucks. still come out ahead vs paying for a ticket to see it in theaters.
5/13/2010 12:31:26 AM
i downloaded it but only watched the first 45 minutes before getting bored.
5/13/2010 1:07:31 AM
I bet they sue for something retarded like $5000/person. MPAA and RIAA are all jerks.Wouldn't it be simpler to come up with a system that works? Raise Netflix to $20/month and put every movie you have on streaming HD. Or keep the current system of adding them 30 days after DVD release and charge a $1 premium to watch it within the period. There are a slew of ways to make money off of this, they're just too busy suing people to innovate.
5/13/2010 2:44:06 AM
All it's gonna take is for them to sue one person who can prove they didn't download it and this thing is gonna get thrown out of court..
5/13/2010 3:55:52 AM
^ that’s an interesting thoughtit wouldn’t be too hard to flood bit torrent trackers with fake IP addresses without affecting the swarm download speed. So if they are just harvesting IPs, they wouldn’t know which were real or fake, or at least it’d take a lot more work to prove, enough so that they won’t bother.[Edited on May 13, 2010 at 3:59 AM. an article i read earlier this week said they've been sending out notices for awhile now with people already settling. Oh well. I too downloaded this, we'll just have to wait and see.and why does it look like Luke Perry on the pic in the OP?]
5/14/2010 10:20:42 AM
Ernie, Read my reply on page 1. According to Fair Use its not illegal to own a copy of something you already own as long as its of equal or lesser quality and you're not using it for anything other than backup purposes.

5/14/2010 10:30:53 AM
^
5/14/2010 10:31:32 AM
I'm sure they'll make it super easy by dropping the lawsuit and forgetting that you exist when you tell them to fuck off because you own a licensed copy.lol, j/k.
5/14/2010 10:35:24 AM
I just wanna know what kind of retard logic says that downloading an illegal copy isn't somehow circumventing the DVD copy protection. Just because you get somebody else to do your dirty work, that doesn't make it legal."But Officer, I didn't steal this car myself, I got some hood rat to steal it for me. Don't worry though, I have a legally purchased car at home that's just like this. I just didn't want to scratch up my original copy"
5/14/2010 10:40:11 AM
^ Worst analogy ever?
5/14/2010 10:42:09 AM

5/14/2010 10:44:37 AM

Good luck with that. Let us know how it goes.
5/14/2010 11:29:50 AM

5/14/2010 11:31:22 AM

5/14/2010 12:06:14 PM
All I've gotten is a gateway from time Warner that says a copyright holder has made a complaint that you've infringed and you can't use the web till you click that you are aware o the complaint. It says to wait for further email.
