Figured chit chat would get faster responses:Xbox 360 or PS3?I'm not much of a gamer so I just use ThePeter's xbox. He is about to move to belgium and I have nothing to do during the day after my work outs right now since I'm graduated. So I sometimes watch movies/play through some video games. After I play through a game I don't touch it again. So, I am wondering which system I should buy for myself. I know they both have dvd capabilities and both have the inter webs. Which one is better for the type of person I am. I guess I would be using it more for watching movies rather than gaming. FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS ITT.

ps3, if only for the bluray capability.
5/26/2010 12:09:04 PM
5/26/2010 12:09:31 PM
360 if you want multiplayer (and don't mind paying extra for it)
5/26/2010 12:10:16 PM
ps3. i suggest going on ebay or something and finding one of the originals that had backwards compatibility before they abandoned that project. plays ps1, ps2, and ps3 games and blu-ray disks. i love mine. now if i can just get it back from the ex.....
5/26/2010 12:10:18 PM
If watching movies is your priority, definitely PS3 (for teh blurays). If you see yourself focusing more on gaming, particularly anything online, go for the XBox.

5/26/2010 12:26:26 PM
my philips is still operational.my ps3 is sitting on top of it right now. i missed a few generations in the game systems.atari, philips, nes, sega/32x, xbox, ps3.oh and a virtuaboy in there too
5/26/2010 12:33:10 PM
i'm still standing by my recommendation that if this guy is only going to play off-line games and watch dvds then all he needs is a PS2. but as soon as you decide to step up to the plate for blu-ray, digital streaming or digital movie files, and online gaming the ps3 will be the best choice.^what a weird sequence. i was much more mainstream. nes, snes, n64, ps1, ps2, ps3. no segas or xboxs. weird.[Edited on May 26, 2010 at 12:34 PM. yeah i knowi'm not a huge gamer assassins creed 2 and netflix have been the majority of my ps3 usage.ac2 i beat all missions and shit in like 50 or so hours of playtime, retarded amounts of netflix time with this brokeass leg, then the rest of my games have maybe 15 hours total.when gt5 comes out though, i may not see the light of day for a while
5/26/2010 12:38:19 PM
i regret not going with snes over sega, i think those ads got to me or somethingat least i played through super mario rpg and super mario world at my neighbor's houseplayed chrono trigger and FFVI later on emulators so I missed the true glory of them when they came out, i'll probably never forgive myself

I still have a Nomad if you would like to purchase one. You just have to hold it at a certain angle or else it turns off during the game.
5/26/2010 12:49:42 PM
5/26/2010 12:52:16 PM
i'd buy a PS2 and GTA San Andreasif you've never played it, it can occupy your time for about 6 months
5/26/2010 12:53:56 PM
360 > PS3.Ask yourself how important BluRay is to you. If its more important than these, then prob get it. I also dont really see you playing any games with it. Branden does have one if you want to check it out.360 has Halo Reach. You play Halo multiplayer. All your friends play 360 online. (By default, having friends means you get a Wii or 360)PS3 online gaming suuuuuuucks360 has Gears of War. You play Gears of War.360 has Read Dead Redemption, which is similar to the likes of Morrowind, Fable, but mostly GTA. I'd get it, its fun as hell.360 netflix is very easy to use, as youve seen. PS3 you need a disk. Both consoles stream PC, I think.PS3 game updates and exclusives come out months after 360. Examples: Netflix, Call of Duty map packs360 has Fable. You could finally get Fable 2 .

XBL costs like $2 a month[Edited on May 26, 2010 at 1:18 PM. Reason : ]
5/26/2010 1:18:20 PM
I'll sell you my sega dreamcast for 30 bucks.
5/26/2010 1:33:19 PM
virtuatennis on the dc was the fucking shit
5/26/2010 1:36:35 PM
If you can't afford XBox Live you can't afford the console. So saying 'online costs money OMG!' is dumb.I have both systems and my PS3 is only on a few hours a month while the xbox gets used all the time. Online experience on the xbox crushes the PS3's.
5/26/2010 1:53:14 PM
I have both. Unless it's a PS3 exclusive I NEVER use the PS3 for playing games, especially online. However, I will say that the PS3 is much better and more versatile connecting to your PC through media servers and it has the obvious built in advantage of being a very good blu-ray player as well.
5/26/2010 2:17:40 PM
^ ThisI own both, and I only use the PS3 for exclusives and Blu-Ray.If you don't care/already have a blue-ray and don't care about God of War and a few others, than its 360 hands down
5/26/2010 2:20:49 PM
Pilgrimshoes - I agree 100%. I used to have epic battles with my friends on virtua tennis. I always used Tim Henman - Volley Master. Master of all that is volley. Based on this overlooked fact, I will now have to raise the price of my sega dreamcast to 35 bucks.
