I will never ever go back to this place again. They didn't vacuum my car like the desk man told me they did. When I asked about this they acted as if it was a big burden and I was inconveniencing them. He then carelessly threw the vacuum hose around the inside of my car hitting the stereo. To top it off they put a nice black stain in my floor mat. The bottom line is....the place looks shady and it lives up to their appearance. Who knows what else they said they did, but didn't.?
5/27/2010 8:06:01 PM
I don't know what else they said.
5/27/2010 8:06:55 PM
crybaby
5/27/2010 8:07:20 PM
ahaThat's one place that I hated. Everytime I went there, they would try to push shit on me like new air filters, brake pads, etc...

^^ that is every jiffy lube. and if you are female, pretty much every car place that exists. even though a lot of people working at those places know less about cars than i do.but you can't let them know that or else they treat you like an arrogant dyke and try to overcharge you for stupid shit. so whenever i go in there i act like an airhead, politely deny there attempts to sell me shit i don't need and hope they just change my oil without fucking anything up. i really want to change my own oil. but i've never done it. p.s. were you just at jiffy lube to get your car vacuumed? orrrrrrr....???[Edited on May 27, 2010 at 8:16 PM. your first mistake was going to jiffy lube.A few years ago, when I was actively in the mechanic business, Jiffy Lube was the US #1 buyer of used engines. They needed to replace all the ones they blew up by doing everything wrong.90% of the cars that came to our shop that had had the last oil change done by jiffy lube had something done incorrectly. Changing the oil on most cars is ridiculously easy. It takes anywhere from 4-15 minutes. There are a few cars that it is really easier just to have someone else do it though.
5/27/2010 8:22:29 PM
Haha of course Jiffy Lube is a shithole. I went there for inspection, thinking there's no way they could fuck up my car. They tried to replace a taillight bulb, but couldn't figure out how to remove the fixture properly. So they used their pocket knife to break the plastic casing open. They changed the bulb then super glued it back together. I knew something was up when they all gathered around thanking me with shit-eating grins, but I was just happy they let my shitty car pass inspection. I got home and the damn taillight fell off in my driveway. So I had to clean up their mess and use a decent epoxy.^Oil changes are usually easy, but there are so many things that can go catastrophically wrong. I've seen lots of jiffy lube disasters as well...but then again most people aren't qualified to change their own oil either, believe it or not.[Edited on May 27, 2010 at 8:27 PM. Reason : .]

The jiffy lube on western has always been the worst jiffy lube ever, going back at least 10 years. The only thing keeping them afloat is the constant influx of new freshman who don't know about their horrible reputation.
5/27/2010 8:25:10 PM
Not only do they try to pressure you into all sorts of add-ons (for ridiculously high prices), but the workers stole money from my friend's car!All she wanted was a basic oil change. Coins were sitting in the change tray of her car, and unless they took her car over bumps that dislodged them (but the prior 4000 miles driven didn't dislodge them), the guy stole about $3 in quarters!I'll never be back there...criminals!
5/27/2010 8:25:14 PM
yea i really want to do my own oil. i just got an oil change (NOT from jiffy lube) while my car was getting fixed for something else.but i've changed my own head lights before not that impressive, i know but i'm working on it. i have a honda accord. would that be an easy car to change the oil in (by myself, i mean)
5/27/2010 8:26:59 PM
It's not any harder than any other, but you need someone to show you how. And be prepared to get scalding oil(a carcinogen) all over you. And have a tool to get a stuck oil filter off. And have a good jack and jackstands so you don't kill yourself. Civic oil pan bolts are really easy to strip as well.[Edited on May 27, 2010 at 8:30 PM. Reason : For most people it's worth $25 to take it to a GOOD garage.]
5/27/2010 8:29:59 PM
accords are relatively easy. You really need a friend with a jack and jack stands to do it safely, or not as safely with drive on ramps. Then you need a bucket to catch the oil.You need the wrench to take off the drain plug. You need strong hands and forearms to unscrew the filter.
5/27/2010 8:30:10 PM
Just dont strip the threads when you screw the plug back in. Unless they've changed their oil pans the threads were made of aluminum and stripped very easily.
5/27/2010 8:31:26 PM
thats what you get for going to jiffy lubeyou need to find a mechanic and stick with just that one.
5/27/2010 8:44:50 PM
I quit going to those 'jiffy lube/quick lube' places...I have had much better luck with an independent mechanic because when I get the oil changed at his shop, even if he isn't the one actually changing the oil, he looks over everything and pinpoints things to me that may actually cause problems down the road, this is the complete opposite of the jiffy lube employees who would show me my air filter saying I needed a new one when it was still nearly bright white and who would tell me I needed to have the transmission fluid changed that was still pink and in good shape because it had been changed already in the last 6 months[Edited on May 27, 2010 at 9:32 PM. 5/27/2010 10:38:14 PM
I rolled up in there with my beater one day and the whole fucking crew was back behind the joint smoking weed.LOLthat shit was funny as hell, but I just rolled on down to Mission Valley 66 and got a proper oil change instead.

A few years ago I was there with my fiance (then gf) and they tried telling her she needed the rear differential serviced. She has a Ford Focus.
5/27/2010 11:35:58 PM
maybe she had a wrc version
5/28/2010 6:28:01 AM
I have always found these guys: http://www.raleighautocare.com/quicklube/ to be pretty trustworthy. They seem to do a good job and I feel a lot better going there versus jiffy lube (will never go to one of those again).
5/28/2010 7:37:37 AM
I had them rotate my tires, bitches rotated them (I think) but for some reason deflated them? I'm not sure what that was about, but they put them back on my car and didn't put any air back in them. When they told me it was ready I looked outside and was like "uhhhh, are you gonna put the air back in my tires?" Then they tried that, "Sir, let me show you your air filter, would you like us to change that for you today" with a filter that I gauruntee wasn't the one in my car.Total shithole.
5/28/2010 8:02:35 AM
5/28/2010 8:12:00 AM
^^^how long you been going there. I used to run that joint. good people, just moved on to better things
5/28/2010 8:15:08 AM
I use roll on ramps... and I don't need a spotter, once you go over the hump at the top of the ramp, just stop...

That one is the one that never took corporate-level coupons either. I'd get junk in the mail from them then they wouldn't accept it. Never touching my car again
5/28/2010 11:38:45 AM
5/28/2010 11:42:02 AM
ive used drive on ramps as the base for a floor jack to lift a car up off its engine (oil pan on the ground)
5/28/2010 11:43:41 AM
I got my inspection at a Jiffy Lube yesterday. In and out in 10 minutes. No complaints.I also get my oil changed there every time. I go there for the oil change, not for the vacuuming. If I want my interior done, I will take it to a car wash.
5/28/2010 11:44:43 AM
wow lol
5/28/2010 11:44:53 AM
The Jiffy Lube on Western is one of the few places in town that doesn't try to sell me a bunch of shit I don't need.
5/28/2010 12:34:25 PM
I can understand if you don't have a filter wrench, oil pan, or place to dispose of the used oil, but damn people, if you can't figure out the basic procedure for changing your oil, you probably shouldn't be driving in the first place. Remove nut, drain oil, replace filter, replace nut, replace oil. Game/Set/Match
5/28/2010 12:42:50 PM
5/28/2010 1:54:09 PM
i've never seen an automotive-related establishment with a worse reputation than Jiffy-Lube.......you wouldn't think they could fuck up a simple inspection but sure as shit they can
5/28/2010 2:01:08 PM
^^^ You don't even need a filter wrench, unless the hulk put your oil filter on. And I know the town of Cary will come and pick up used oil (not sure about other places) or you can take it to any advance auto/auto zone.
5/28/2010 3:31:16 PM
I went there once. They stripped my oil plug. I didn't go back.
