I was waiting outside the Harris Teeter a few years ago when I saw some kids pull up in an Audi. At least two passengers were drinking budweisers. The driver idled in the fire lane while the front passenger ran into the store. He returned with a 12 pack of beer.I called the cops on them and followed (from a safe distance) until I confirmed that they had been stopped. Was this the right choice?

no, you're an asshole.
5/30/2010 2:52:42 PM
I got an open container ticket the other daybut I wasn't driving - I was sitting in a park
5/30/2010 2:56:13 PM
A few years ago? Why do you care now?
5/30/2010 2:56:58 PM
SO IT WAS YOU !!!!
5/30/2010 2:58:17 PM
^^i was wondering the same thing
5/30/2010 2:58:47 PM
why didnt you just citizens arrayest them right there
5/30/2010 3:02:09 PM
It was the right move, Solinari. I hate fun too.
5/30/2010 3:02:36 PM
pics or it didn't happen

5/30/2010 3:05:20 PM
Calling the cops was fine, since drunk drivers deserve to get pulled. Following them was an asshole thing to do, tho.
5/30/2010 3:06:26 PM
to me you sound like a faggot to me
5/30/2010 3:08:19 PM
As much as I want to call you an asshole, I've definitely bitched at people who tried to hop in my car with an open beer. However, calling the cops and following someone in a situation where most people would just shrug is a dickhead move.
5/30/2010 3:10:17 PM
i dont see any evidence that the driver was drunk
5/30/2010 3:10:27 PM
what a bullshit law. Beer is cheaper than water at the gas station nowadays, and I can drink a 24oz beer without being over the legal limit. So it's OK for me to chug the beer down in 5 minutes and then hop into my truck and drive home, but sipping on it to quench my thirst on a hot day while driving home is illegal in this state?
5/30/2010 3:11:14 PM
what a bullshit law. Lighter fluid is cheaper than water at the gas station nowadays, and I can huff a can of fluid without being over the legal limit. So it's OK for me to huff the shit down in 5 minutes and then hop into my truck and drive home, but huffing on it to get a buzz on a hot day while driving home is illegal in this state?
5/30/2010 3:14:00 PM
you can get lighter fluid cheaper than water? I need to start going to your convenience store.
5/30/2010 3:15:17 PM
fuck you. that's my stash.
5/30/2010 3:16:02 PM
some TWW detective work may find the actual statue but I have a couple of friends that are convinced that NC just passed a new open container law effective January 2010 that allows for people to drink wine/beer in the car as long as the driver is stone sober but yeah what the OP did was a total dick move. if you have nothing better to do than bust college kids drinking beer in a campus neighborhood then I feel sorry for you. and don't give me that holier than thou bullshit about the law and your relative/friend that was killed by a drunk driver either. that shit you pulled probably got at least one kid a felony, the others serious misdemeanors, and all of them fined/lawyer fees out the ass as well as anything that NC State/Paul Cousins did to them. if the driver wasn't swerving all over the place posing a clear danger to others, you should have left him alone.

I believe in a law and order society. You want to start turning a blind eye to crime? Well, then you deserve the ghetto you'll find yourself living in eventually.
5/30/2010 3:52:34 PM
this thread has to be a troll...
5/30/2010 3:54:15 PM
Personally I think you are full of shit b/c no way the cops come that fast.
5/30/2010 3:56:24 PM
It took them a while to come, but I called as soon as the kids pulled up and I saw them drinking. The passenger took a little while, but not a really long time, to purchase the 12 pack.... Altogether I'd say it took about 20-25 min for the police to respond. The patrol may have just been in the area... Not sure if that is fast or slow response time.[Edited on May 30, 2010 at 3:59 PM. LO fucking L you really sat around for 20-25 minutes + to get some kids for drinking, what a douche bag! do you call the cops every time you see somebody j-walk too? law and order society lol
5/30/2010 4:01:36 PM
I don't care if kids drink... I don't care of underage kids drink. I do care about crime that risks my health and safety.
5/30/2010 4:03:08 PM
terrible trolling itt

Yeah, I don't care much about open containers, but drunk drivers get ratted out.

5/30/2010 5:31:30 PM
I surprised the cops even showed up, I'd say it's more likely that your call had no effect and they got pulled for some other reason.

Don't lie. You weren't waiting outside a Harris Teeter. You were busy pushing your grocery cart up on a median strip instead of taking it to the corral.][Edited on May 30, 2010 at 8:23 PM. Reason : ]]

Did you guys not see "(from a safe distance)"? Of course I didn't get too close to them... But I did stay on the line with the 911 operator as I tracked them. She thanked me after the cop found them and told me I had done the right thing.
5/31/2010 9:03:14 AM
I'm glad you feel better about yourself because of it. You must be so proud.Nah, we cleaned out my brother's house this weekend, and on the road back there was a box full of beer and liquor bottles behind the driver's seat, some of which had been opened. You wouldn't know unless you felt like poking around in the car, and if someone did notice, all it would take to get left alone is explaining.
5/31/2010 9:09:33 AM
^ sure... That makes sense. As long as no one is drinking it there's no real issue. That's what the open container laws are really trying to address after all.
5/31/2010 9:54:23 AM
5/31/2010 9:55:05 AM

the two concepts are not mutually exclusive.
5/31/2010 11:20:17 AM
well if you think about the lives I potentially saved by getting these drunk kids off the road, I don't consider that to be a dickhead move...I don't understand you people. You think its wrong to enforce open container and DUI laws?? what in the fuck is wrong with you
5/31/2010 12:29:13 PM
Solinari...your fucking serious? Wow. Hahahaha. You cannot be serious. I refuse to believe your being serious. Also - I dont read threads...I just read the title and the first post. If you have already come out and admitted your kidding then haha we all can laugh about this but if your fucking serious then I hope you die a slow and horrible death you sick bastard.
