What stuff in Kansas or eastern Colorado should I stop to see?I am seriously considering a southern detour to Great Sand Dunes.[Edited on June 1, 2010 at 8:25 PM. Reason : That is to say: my destination is 10 hours away. I have to be there by ~9pm 6/4.]

I would say make every intention of being there 3 hours early.

lolthat deadline is self-imposed, and already includes a safety net. And, if anything catastrophic happens, my boss has said just to email her when I can to let her know I'll be late arriving.I also know I can do 13hrs in the car easily; I plan for 8-10hr days. Hence: the extra time on my hands

Yeah, I had an internship in Wichita last summer. Had to drive along the turnpike through Flint Hills for a couple hours to get there. I mean, it's pretty much just fields, hills, and cows... but they go on for as long as you can see (hardly no trees). I was definitely in awe.

The Flint Hills National Wildlife Refuge is really cool if you have the time for it, if not, take the Flint Hills bypass.Kiowa, KS is neat for all the Cherokee history stuff behind it. Dodge City is worth seeing for Santa Fe Trail.I love Old Town in Wichita V twine ]
