6/3/2010 9:32:09 AM
I always thought you could get a DWI if the keys were in the ignition, regardless of whether the engine's on or not.
6/3/2010 9:48:21 AM
One of my friends got a DWI after getting his car stuck in a ditch. Cop saw him stumbling down the side of the road, and he was too drunk to argue out of getting a dwi. Keys were not even in the ignition.^yeah thats def the ruleI'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message.[Edited on June 3, 2010 at 9:54 AM. Reason : read that shit niggaz]
6/3/2010 9:50:07 AM
completely how the law reads.i took a highway patrol sponsored/taught safe driving class, and the teacher actually told us if we needed to sleep one off in our cars, to leave the keys under the car on the ground or tossed a few feet away where you'd find them in the morning.wild.
6/3/2010 9:50:37 AM
fuck the god damn police
6/3/2010 9:50:52 AM
true- we tried passing out in the back of someone's suv once, and it was cold out, so he put the keys in to turn on the heatcop came by and tried to act like he was doing us a favor by not giving the driver a DUI for it (he was in the back seat, and I was in the trunk area)... we couldn't get a cab (they stopped running) so what the hell did he want us to do?
6/3/2010 9:51:25 AM
i didnt read the article, did they state what WOULD be allowed as far as where your keys go?i mean, he may have just passed out while trying to put the keys in the ignition too. but if they were IN the console in the middle then he'd be safe like he wasn't trying to drive?i dunno, just sayin

Excuse me sir, if you want to sleep in your car, you should put your keys outside. Don't worry, nobody will steal them.
6/3/2010 9:54:16 AM
6/3/2010 9:54:39 AM

^^^ That's what I want to know.
6/3/2010 9:57:16 AM
6/3/2010 9:57:25 AM
Another example of confusing/asinine laws in action:I was driving home (Charlotte) from school (for winter break) and had a big hunting knife in one of my bags for a trip I had gone on right before I came home. The back seats had been folded down, and the bag was in the trunk, but a cop who had pulled me tried to say I had access to it and charged me with concealed weapon (even though it was in a bag in the trunk area) - WHAT AM I, STRETCH ARMSTRONG???
6/3/2010 9:57:55 AM
btw that article is from Minnesota, so not sure how the laws are different in NC or other states
6/3/2010 10:01:28 AM
6/3/2010 10:02:03 AM
6/3/2010 10:06:07 AM
YOU SEE IT'S OKAY THAT HE GOT A DUI BECAUSE YOU BREAK THE LAW YOU PAY THE BUDHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH DERPA DERPA DERPA DERPA
6/3/2010 10:07:48 AM
^i dont think anybody in this thread has implied that at all
6/3/2010 10:08:18 AM
I know I'm just getting ready for it because we all know it's coming
6/3/2010 10:09:38 AM
6/3/2010 10:09:46 AM
This is okay because police officers who fall asleep in cars get DWIs all the time.
6/3/2010 10:14:06 AM
i thought this was common knowledge.
6/3/2010 10:20:01 AM
and the downward spiral of our system of law begins.
6/3/2010 10:22:35 AM
^^ you didn't read the entire story in the OP
6/3/2010 10:23:05 AM
begins?people say the same thing, no matter what forum it is every time an article like this is writtenand yetno one that says that ever does shit about it.

6/3/2010 10:23:47 AM
6/3/2010 10:26:23 AM
^^^^ yes, i did. i was well aware that if you're in a car and have the ability to start driving it and you are drunk that you can get a dui. i thought everyone knew this.what part of my statement made you think i hadn't read it? there's nothing in that article that is not summarized in the thread title.^[Edited on June 3, 2010 at 10:26 AM. that's cool too, but i just don't think it'll worknobody does anything nowadays until somebody dies
6/3/2010 10:28:14 AM
6/3/2010 10:28:47 AM
don't know if that's necessarily trueit just means that people from both the right and the left need to realize that there's a set of things that require sensible governance that everybody can agree on
