I love netflix. Especially since it's kept us from our weekly dvd and bluray purchases, which really added up.Big fan of getting tv series through this too. We're almost done with Psych, then moving on to The Unit
6/18/2010 9:00:13 AM
Netflix instant stream is the only reason I haven't gone totally insane while being stuck at home for two weeks, AND it's a lot cheaper than cable.

I came to dance dance dance dance.
11/22/2010 10:46:44 AM
I'll have to see what the price raise is for the plans with DVDs. Netflix is great, and still worth paying for at $7.99 a month for streaming only, but the DVD+streaming plan is just worlds better considering the general lack of movies that are available for instant stream. The one-two punch is really what makes them at steal right now at $8.99. Stream-only would still be a great deal at $7.99 but definitely a huge drop in the overall quality.
11/22/2010 10:47:08 AM
Why not have the added feature for an extra buck? Only 4 dvds a year would pay for it.
11/22/2010 10:52:48 AM
^I have the $8.99 plan now and it is WELL worth it over any sort of streaming-only option. However, what I was referring to is that article said they are raising the prices on the DVD+streaming plans . I'm waiting to see what their new plan price is with the DVD+streaming. Worse case if they raise it too much I'll do the $7.99 streaming only but it would suck to lose the DVD portion. Netflix definitely wouldn't be as awesome (until the movie companies decide to let them stream everything heh).[Edited on November 22, 2010 at 10:56 AM. Reason : .]

11/22/2010 11:02:59 AM
^^ awesome. Thanks for posting that. That is not bad at all.
11/22/2010 11:04:30 AM
yeah, one extra dollar. i am ok with that.i also hope that blu-rays are available in the same package as dvds
11/22/2010 11:10:48 AM
we've only checked out 5 DVDs since September 09 yeah, i think we'll be switching to streaming only
11/22/2010 11:11:40 AM
^Yea, I was worried they were going to bump it up to $15 a month or something.
11/22/2010 11:12:37 AM
Holy crap they are up to 8 DVD at a time plans? That seems a bit excessive.
11/22/2010 11:13:15 AM
i'd really like to know how much it costs them to stream for the average user. $7.99/mo is a great price point - how much money do they make off that
11/22/2010 11:14:22 AM
^^yea kind of silly. But, I do miss the original days of netflix where the standard for $9 a month was 3 DVDs out at a time.[Edited on November 22, 2010 at 11:16 AM. Reason : .]
11/22/2010 11:16:05 AM
i do the two dvd's at a time plan to avoid arguments. we have them set up so it alternates between her choices and my choices. strangely i get the entire bill........ damnit
11/22/2010 11:22:08 AM
Yea, we would consider the two DVD plan so that she can get her workout DVDs along with the movies we pick [Edited on November 22, 2010 at 11:23 AM. Reason : .]
11/22/2010 11:23:33 AM
$1 increase isn't that bad. I'll keep the 1 DVD plan
11/22/2010 12:09:17 PM
I love how you're paying $7.99 for no dvds.
11/22/2010 12:56:35 PM
11/22/2010 1:09:20 PM
The fee for blu-ray stays. I got an email stating: "The price of your current plan, which includes access to Blu-ray discs, is changing from $10.99 a month to $11.99 a month. "
