so, i'm going to florida in two weeks for the 4th and i really want to lose some weight and tone up before the trip. i'm not trying to do anything crazy like lose 20 lbs in two weeks...but more like 8. is this a realistic/unrealistic goal? i'm already an active person, who is knowledgeable in health and exercise, and am getting back into a routine of working out pretty regularly. i really enjoy hearing new ideas and finding out what everyone else does to stay in shape. without crash dieting and pulling the trigger...does anyone have any tips, workout ideas, recipes, etc?note: this isn't ONLY for the trip...i really want to keep up a routine and continue to get back into shape...the trip is just a motivating factor.

Also, I literally cringe every time I see a girl say that she wants to "tone up."

why do you cringe. they all want smaller arms and no tummy pouch. they can call losing body fat whatever they want!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. lift weights, then do cardio. don't overdo it.2. track your caloric intake, limiting sugar, sodium and alcohol 3. shoot for 40% protein, 40% carbs, 20% fat

All they want is to burn the fat off their stomach! Is spot reducing so hard!

i see no reason to cringe when a girl says they want to "tone up." at least they are taking an interest in more than just cardio. not only do i want to lose my tum i also want to tone my arms, thighs, and arse. damn, i wish i would have known about the beach body thread sooner. i should pay attention to more than just chit-chat

The idea is that it's a lot easier to run when tired than lift heavy things when tired.

well, isn't it also better for muscle development to keep it light on the cardio on lifting days?
