i was an outside linebacker. one time i fucked up and blitzed instead of dropping back into coverage. stuck the qb, and he stepped out, tossing a td pass to the guy i was supposed to be covering. still bothers me to this day
6/22/2010 5:57:31 PM
let it go bro, let it go

our soccer team scored more points in a season than our football team did - twice - when i was in school.

Some little bitch at providence tried to fight me once on the field right in front of my coach. I used to play WR and I was blocking a CB who had 3 inches and ~30-40 pounds on me and for whatever reason the kid was getting man handled by me. I drove him like 15-20 yards downfield before the whistle blew, and of course let up when the whistle blows. I start to walk away and the kid pushes me and tries to take a swing at me, breaks my chin strap where it connects to my helmet, all of this right in front of my coach. ref didn't see shit. I had a REALLY bad headache that game too.

I played freshman year. I was left guard and we had a trap play so I pulled to the right, the TE let his man go by, and I laid him out. I knocked him back a good 6 or 7 feet and he landed right on his ass. It was majestic. We lost that game though.

I scored 4 touchdowns in one game. Polk High Panthers rule!!

I started at LB for a game sophomore year, we played a 4-4 and like 3 Seniors were injured that game..but first play of the game @ providence day they run a sweep left and I had never experienced a crack-back block from a WR before...needless to say I did not see the WR coming and had my eyes on the RB the whole time I ended up getting decleated and had to take a few plays off. We replayed the play about 20 times in film the next week with the whole team laughing at me.
6/22/2010 6:27:11 PM
knocking scrubs on their asses was always fun to watch on film. THE GLORY DAYS!

Because High School Was Serious Business

Yeah... Coach woulda put me in fourth quarter, we would've been state champions. No doubt. No doubt in my mind.
6/22/2010 6:52:08 PM
the football coach wanted me to play kicker, but I was already involved in too much extracurricular shit to even entertain the idea

I played football one year (8th grade) and absolutely hated it. I had never played a real game of football and had probably never watched a game except for The Superbowl. Had someone explained the game better to me I might have enjoyed myself, but I really never put it together. I was excellent at running over other linemen, but terrible at strategy, hearing the ref's whistle, or keeping up with where the football was at any given time during the game. If I had a decent coach who recognized my lack of understanding it might have been a completely different experience, but that wasn't the case. They basically told me to run over the person in front of me and I was really good at that. I probably could have done so much more if they had told me, for example, to keep my eyes open, figure out who had the ball, and go after him. I know that seems like common sense, but it was never in any of our drills. Weird, I know. Then I broke my leg really badly right before the next season. I didn't miss that shit at all. I did miss not being able to play baseball that year due to ongoing issues from the leg break though. Now I even have one leg that is longer than the other (like the dude from Weezer, but not that bad) because the lower half of my leg stopped growing after I broke it!!!!
