I have not worked as a server in nearly 7yrs so I don't recall how I memorized everything last time. I am sure that a good number of you have either worked or currently work as a server. What tricks did you use to remember all this mess?

cheat sheets in the flip folder thingy. One for steaks, chicken, salads, appetizers, drinks, and wine. Leave the side items (and possible subs) in the cover - it will be used most often. When you eat on the job try different menu items.

I am mostly concerned about just getting past the interview because the hostess chick that gave me the application said there was a menu quiz at the interview. After that I know I can just read the thing or ask someone. I am probably going to want to hang myself once I get to the sushi roll section.

i thought you were in meteorology or something?

i would try to taste a good percentage of the food. Seriously. It's really fast and effective methodology for learning a menu. You might not know there are X number of sides for a particular dish, but you'll have a hard time forgetting you dug the garlic shrimp with asparagus or the blooming onion tastes like space squid that burned up on re-entry

^^ I still am full time. I am looking to wait tables as a side income in order to pay off my motorcycle quicker and to save up for my hike on the AT.^Haha. Awesome. I thought about venturing over there for lunch tomorrow and trying something different. The only things I've ever eaten there have been the Mixed Veggie sushi roll, spring rolls and edamame.
