7/30/2010 8:18:09 AM
Surely, the day I wear a Hawaiian shirt to the office is the day I plan on drowning myself in the urinal.
7/30/2010 8:18:13 AM
i'm sitting here with my dick hanging out my pants and a hole in my shirt
i dressed up, too...polo instead of a t-shirt!still rocking the flipflops and cargo shorts, thoughi keep a change of clothes in my office for when a senator or rep or other VIP stops by unexpectedly
7/30/2010 8:20:15 AM
I'm debating actually acting like a computer programmer in my office today. You see....we have a bit of an introvert problem here....I would fit right in were I to cower away from everyone in the hall that said hello to me....being careful not to look anyone in the eye.[Edited on July 30, 2010 at 8:27 AM. i take offense. i'm a social computer programmer but i am wearing jeans and a polo.
7/30/2010 8:28:51 AM
I dressed for. P.E.T scan today, bitches.
7/30/2010 8:37:04 AM
Haha, I believe it manMost of the cats are pretty cool once I got to know them. It was just funny that when I met my hiring manager... she was like "wow, its nice to meet someone that talks back instead of hiding in the corner". Then she put her arms over her eyes, hunched over, and pretended to sob heavily. Hahaha
7/30/2010 8:39:23 AM
computer programmer
7/30/2010 8:40:03 AM
i wish i could wear sneakers. those steel toe boots get heavy.
7/30/2010 8:41:30 AM
so tuff
7/30/2010 8:46:56 AM
i've never met a single "computer programmer" that fit EMCE's stereotypei mean, i realize the stereotype is there and is propagated by movies and the like, but i've never met someone like that...perhaps i'm just lucky to work with and know normal people and all other computer programmers are exactly as they're portrayed?i have definitely known some people that fit the world of warcraft stereotype, though, but they weren't computer programmers

i'm wearing a tshirt today (instead of a button-down, collared shirt). and i refuse to shave.if they complain, i'll just go back home...they're lucky i'm actually showing up for some time on the 12th damn day in a row.
7/30/2010 9:17:15 AM
i wish i dint ever have to dress up! i avoid all formal occasions for the same reason
7/30/2010 9:18:33 AM
i dress casual everyday
7/30/2010 9:19:10 AM
^
7/30/2010 9:19:27 AM
i wear t-shirts and shorts or jeans every day to work, and we play on the playground, sing songs, have snack, color, play with bubbleslife is awesome
7/30/2010 9:20:41 AM
Shorts, polo, and flip flops every day.or jeans, polo, and sneakers in the winter.I'm a manager now, and most managers wear manager attire, like slacks and a button up. I can't bring myself to do it except for days I have face to face meetings involving execs that are way up the chain. I'm already the youngest manager in the org, and it doesn't help that I'm 31 and can pass for a college kid. A couple of months ago someone asked me if i was an intern. I should have probably been annoyed by that, but my immediate thought was that I could probably still bang college chicks if given the opportunity.
7/30/2010 9:25:12 AM
^ exactlyi get dressing "nicely" for big important meetings full of self-important people...you can look nice without looking like a slob, and it doesn't require wearing a full suit
7/30/2010 9:35:54 AM
We have an introvert problem here
7/30/2010 9:43:18 AM
mesh shortst-shirtsandals
7/30/2010 9:43:53 AM
We don't have casual fridays (this is the university, every day is casual day really) but people do seem to dress down more on Friday. I see more jeans than usual.I wear jeans > 50% of the time day to day, but for some reason I seem to usually wear slacks or khakis on Fridays. Not being intentionally contrarian but it seems to work out that way. Today is an example.
7/30/2010 9:57:58 AM
you work with primarily engineers emce?
7/30/2010 9:59:04 AM
Suit all day every dayI usually like feeling like Barney StinsonBut not when its consistently 96 out
7/30/2010 10:08:08 AM
Almost entirely engineers, and CS. Most are 50+ years old
7/30/2010 10:09:50 AM
you know what's weirder than introverted engineers?extroverted engineers. or maybe to be more specific-- extroverted nerds (and i don't intend nerd to be offensive in this case)
7/30/2010 10:12:29 AM
The only person I would consider a nerd here is the most extroverted person I've ever metShakes the UPS and Fedex guys hands every time they come and chats up every solicitor that comes by before letting them into the office like a douchebag
7/30/2010 10:14:25 AM
I've met a lot of fairly cool, well adjusted (socially) nerds in my travels. I've also met a lot of goddamn annoying nerds.... those are the ones that I want to punch in the face whenever I get a computer virus.
7/30/2010 10:18:43 AM
i have yet to be punched in the face by emce
7/30/2010 10:19:16 AM
I dressed casually for work today too. I didn't put on a tie.
7/30/2010 10:22:53 AM
^^^haha, note that 'cool,' 'well adjusted,' and extroverted are not necessarily overlapping. I'm talking about your stereotypical nerd with coke bottle glasses, obese, smells like mountain dew, and lives in his mom's basement snorting nasal spray. Think of that, but extroverted. that shit is weird.
