ahhhhhhahahahahahahttp://digg.com/environment/Republican_Warns_Bicycle_Rentals_Will_Lead_to_UN_Take_OverAnyway. Those bike things are really neat. I've seen them in a few cities. Perfect solution to getting home after a night of drinking. Sometimes they're even free for the first 2 hours.

we have those in DC...not sure how it leads to a UN takeover but okay

Yeah I typically have my own bike, but when you don't they're great.

haha. There has to be more to his claims than what this article printed. Here is another article, explains his "reason" a little bit more. Still sounds paranoid as hell to me.http://www.denverpost.com/election2010/ci_15673894[Edited on August 5, 2010 at 2:50 PM. Reason : .]

I thought this was gonna be another "Share the road" thread.I was ready to throwdown
8/5/2010 3:05:09 PM
^i've been in long debates about that. I have arguments for both sides. I think cyclists should be permitted on the road but only if it's safe and the cars have easy access to pass the biker. I realize being behind a biker on a one lane narrow road can be a bitch. I hate hipster biker shit like mass effect where they purposely run red lights and break the law. This happens in Charlotte and i'm slowly educating people on how real cities treat cyclists. For example in Minneapolis even though it's technically legal to ride on the road (i think) there's streets that say no bikes because there's a greenway or bike lane nearby. I think this is the direction everywhere needs to move in. Go to Amsterdam or Copenhagen and there's always bike lanes for bikers. Half the time the bike lanes take up more space than the car lanes. Basically i'm saying is i don't think "sharing" should ever be an issue. I think there should be dedicated lanes for both cars AND bikes. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/04/08/20-most-bike-friendly-cit_n_530186.html#s79376Minneapolis is awesome btw.

Yeah, there have been multiple threads on that exact discussion, it seems like they used to be more frequent.I'd say my opinion is pretty similar to yours, although I see the value in Critical Mass.

If it doesn't burn coal or oil to run, don't trust it. [/republicans]

Each side is stupid, but this is an instance where one side is dramatically stupider than the other.

man this is a great idea. i hope it spreads around

Fuck the UN thread. THEY HAVE PUBLIC BIKES IN CHINA! We don't want to be COMMUNIST by having PUBLIC (read, welfare and socialism and hurt the AMERICAN RIGHT to decide what bike you WANT to BUY!) bicycles. We're going down a dangerous road, and if we go to far, we won't ever be able to turn back, comrades!/glennbeck
