There is a very large dead bird floating around in my lake that the turtles are feeding on. I'd estimate the wingspan to be around 5 feet, but I'm not great with linear measurements. I think it could be a bald eagle, but then again I could be completely wrong...any ideas?

to me it look like a duck to me.

I'm almost positive its not a duck...way too big for any kind of duck I've ever seen around here...or seen ever for that matter. I'm pretty sure its a bird of prey

we need some sort of scale in the pic

Yeah, I took my fishing rod and drug it in earlier today when it was more intact, I should have taken pictures then. I'm not doing that again though, on account of I'm pretty sure it is a bird of prey.

I'm pretty sure it has at least a 5 foot wingspan. Not sure how you can definitively say it doesn't with no frame of reference....V No[Edited on September 18, 2010 at 5:08 PM. Reason : V]

Ducks are birds of prey right

I have frames of reference, I can see plenty of sticks in the water.

The real question is why is the lake in the sky.I mean really, fuck the bird, we gotta figure this shit out.
9/18/2010 5:11:40 PM
Is it a buzzard?
9/18/2010 5:18:29 PM
Didn't consider buzzards...that could be right
9/18/2010 5:29:30 PM

That doesn't look like a duck to me it has some pretty intenseFlight feathers. I'm going with someSort of eagle. Although I'm not sure how rare eagles are in your neck of the woods. We got eagles all over the AK not just bald ones either.
