First off, what does it mean to you to be cut off? I don't know what it means, and I hear people complaining about "getting cut off" in all different types of traffic situations. Also, I don't normally do road rage. Obviously, I get pissed at egregious stuff liking stopping at a green and sitting there until it turns red. And I get generally frustrated in big city traffic like DC/Atlanta shit...but I have friends/family who drive around in some spastic hurried rage all the time...what's the deal with this people? Also, do you guys genderize your insults? My friend and I almost got hit on the highway, and my friend was like, "What an asshole!" A couple seconds later we caught a glimpse of the driver and it was a woman, and I instinctively blurted out, "It's a bitch! It's a bitch!"

the thing that MOST gives me road rage (well i use that term loosely, i don't get super mad and tailgate or like flick people off when this happens, it just makes me mad and be like "ughhhhh you moron") is when people merge onto the highway at like 35mph (and you're behind them and therefore also have to merge at a slow speed when trucks are flying by you at 85mph).its usually old people or asian people.FUCK OLD PEOPLE.
9/21/2010 11:13:02 PM
I have lots of road rage. Slow people in left lane. Two people doing same speed next to eachother. Old drivers. People texting or on cell phones. etcetc oh mybad I mean etica etica

people who suck at driving.. oh wait, wasn't there a thread about this already.
9/21/2010 11:17:33 PM
I got pissed off tonight on the way home from work because some bitch was driving 10mph under the speed limit, then sped up 20mph while I tried to pass her.
9/21/2010 11:17:44 PM
9/21/2010 11:18:26 PM
^^^^^^yeah, that sucks. towards the top of the list, although I'm pretty sure that #1 is permanently held down by people driving in the passing lane when they aren't passing anyone.

I've been trying to do the kinder gentler driver thing for a while. It's sort of working I guess.I did get a little pissed at some jackass on I-40 last week who decided to do a fast lane change without using his turn signal at exactly the time I was merging into the same lane (from two lanes over) with my turn signal on. I can't fucking predict your actions...That's why we have turn signals.
9/21/2010 11:47:30 PM
multiply this by a six lane interstate with two lanes merging onto a backed up 8 lane interstate. it requires a diagram to understand the full effect, but it pisses me off every morning.
9/21/2010 11:54:59 PM
cutting someone off == getting in front of someone in such a manner as to cause them to either: apply the brakes, release the accelerator, or change course, no matter how slight. This includes entering a roadway well ahead, but in sight, of another vehicle, only to cause said vehicle to perform one of the above actions.[Edited on September 22, 2010 at 12:26 AM. Reason : /]

[b]^^^^ I'm even worse. Doing that doesn't normally work (people don't let you in so it ends up taking longer) so I will stay in the straight lane and turn out of it. By creating a double turn lane I force the people in the turn lane to simply stay in the inner lane. Its no big deal and I've never gotten a horn for it although it would be an obvious ticket.I also do this in highway traffic if the right lane ends or is temporarily close, all the cars pile up in the left lane and theres about a mile of empty road in the right lane. I'll hop in the right lane and zoom all the way up to where it ends before forcing someone to let me merge into the left lane. Saves several minutes.[Edited on September 22, 2010 at 12:56 AM. i bet if you put a red dot on a map every time i used my horn, it'd look like raleigh got four bleeding gunshot wounds right through the campus area roundabouts

The other day, I saw an idiot stop in the middle of the turnabout because they almost passed the turn they wanted to get off on. They sat there as traffic went around them with their turn signal on. I wanted to scream at them for being so dumb.

So mambagrl isn't even trying to be subtle with her trolling now? Such a shame.
9/22/2010 8:24:29 AM
I have severe disdain for people who don't turn on their headlights in appropriate circumstances I think a lot of folks in NC think "day-time running lights" means "I never have to turn my lights on". How am I supposed to see your day-time headlights when I'm behind you? Also I get pissed at lifted off-roaders; a friend of a friend was killed in a car accident because a lifted SUV's bumper was so high that it didn't hit the other car's bumper. It was just high enough to crash through the windows instead.

People who are scared to merge, so they slam on brakes and stop in the acceleration lanes.

^^Not a troll post. Just disagreeing with Bill.

I was clearly driving faster than the line of cars "waiting" in the left lane for the idiot to get out of the way, which almost never happens.so i utilize the right lane to pass a few of the sheep. guy in an s-10 notices me and tries to close the gap so i can't get back into left lane when i catch cars in the right lane.I merge anyway and he tries to get beside me, on the median going 75 mph on the interstate, while laying on the horn.I don't react. we move forward past the car in the right lane and i change lanes and pass the rest of the sheep.I don't see a problem with passing you or getting passed, if no one ever has to slow down.but I'm the asshole and I'm okay with that.
9/22/2010 10:12:32 AM
That can't happen in North Carolina. No one here knows how to use a horn.
9/22/2010 10:18:36 AM
oh come on, who doesn't know what getting cut off is?
9/22/2010 10:23:58 AM

They may seem like endless drivel but an elaborate double usage like that goes over the heads of most but also have intelligent design that can be artistically appreciated by some.

Yeah, I'd say that:15% are downright dangerous due to total incompetence at vehicle control and lack of situational awareness/judgement1% are skilled at vehicle control, but are reckless idiots.60% are incompetent and a huge pain in the ass, but usually not directly unsafe20% are safe and don't really hurt anything or get in the way, but are by no means skilled3% are knowledgeable and skilled at vehicle control (can induce/correct/balance oversteer and understeer with the brakes/throttle/steering wheel, can double-clutch, match revs and heel/toe downshift, can brake hard to the limits of adhesion and still maintain vehicle control, steering around obstacles if necessary), with good situational awareness (to include thinking a couple of steps ahead and being aware of your surroundings in all directions), courtesy (not cutting people off, letting people through traffic when warranted, and to also include staying out of the passing lane except when passing, merging expeditiously, signalling, etc), and judgement (knowing when to gas it and when to take it easy, never drinking and driving, etc).1% or less are rockstars. Amateur/pro racers, recreational track junkies, etc, with all of the aforementioned qualifies of SA/courtesy/judgement.
