I. Am. So. Happy. It's been a year since I graduated and I finally got one.

10/19/2010 7:05:29 PM
congrats- definitely been in those shoes before. It is such a weight off your back once you get that great call!did you get what you want? or are you just doing something to pay the bills and get experience?
10/19/2010 7:05:30 PM
congrats... but damn dude, what was your major?
10/19/2010 7:05:40 PM
Yeah man you must have majored in buttfuckin or somethingI mean everyone's got a job now, they're handing them out on every cornerWhat the fuck is wrong with you, you goddamn failure]

10/19/2010 7:12:10 PM
jeeez now you guys are making me feel bad for taking a year to get one. I had internships over the course of the year just nothing permanent. My degree is mechanical engineering job but this isn't exactly an engineering job but it's a career path I like. More web/technology analytics (which firefox doesn't say is a word). Anyway I'm happy.
10/19/2010 7:15:48 PM
not making you feel bad, was just curious about your major.with a mech eng major i would think jobs would be easier to get, with thousands of industries around.
10/19/2010 7:17:56 PM
Yeah but I've been picky about what I want to do. I don't want to move to some bumfuck town and I don't want to do about 75% of what mechanical engineers do. I have a lot of interests but am still picky at the same time. This job lets me travel, small company, and I like the people. I'm happy.
10/19/2010 7:22:30 PM
i too was offered a job today, but i already have a job so I am twice the worker as everyone else
10/19/2010 7:30:02 PM
So you accepted and intend on keeping both? That has potential as a cheesy comedy.
10/19/2010 7:38:59 PM
haven't accepted the offer, just was offered the job
10/19/2010 7:41:16 PM
10/19/2010 7:50:10 PM
^not familiar with specialization?
10/19/2010 7:52:05 PM
^seriously. Mechanical Engineering is a very broad degree and I have specific interests. I've been searching and finally got offered a job outside of engineering and took it. I see it going somewhere and I like the company and people who I'll be working with. What's funny is my boss is a mechanical engineer too.
10/19/2010 7:56:06 PM
10/19/2010 7:56:37 PM
^ What if they start you out at 65k/yr with lots of incentives?
10/20/2010 12:26:33 AM
Congrats!
10/20/2010 12:27:15 AM
gratz
10/20/2010 12:28:28 AM
I would be happy with 40k and all expenses paid, at least that's what I'm looking forward to if I get accepted and pass OCS next year.Congrats Neo, now dump your 460's and get triple 480's.
10/20/2010 12:31:54 AM
I was also offered a jerb yesterday with the company agreeing to pay for my master's. But I'd rather start full-time as soon as I graduate so I'm still shopping /off my high horse
10/20/2010 12:32:06 AM
Wish I could find a job, need track money and new shoes for my baby. She's all lonely in the garage awaiting for parts.
10/20/2010 12:35:30 AM
10/20/2010 1:40:02 AM
I graduated the end of july and just started looking for jobs this past week Hope I find one!
10/20/2010 1:42:17 AM
i was glad to get a job out in bumfuck instead of raleighdifferent strokes
10/20/2010 3:06:28 AM
One of my professors, who is on a lot of search boards for new professors, says they have trouble finding professors sometimes b/c potential recruits often consider Raleigh/the triangle region to basically be "bumfuck"different strokes indeed.
10/20/2010 3:09:25 AM
I would classify Raleigh as "bumfuck nowhere". I mean there's plenty of out of state people who think Charlotte is our Capital...
10/20/2010 8:23:09 AM
Does the term "bumfuck" have to do with bums fucking?..or butt-fucking?Is it actually in Egypt? Also, how about podunk? Apparently, there are actual places with that name.I'd rather live in podunk than bumfuck...different strokes
10/20/2010 9:42:01 AM
Congrats!I'm on the job hunt myself
10/20/2010 9:52:45 AM
There's a town in Australia called "Fucking". Not making this shit up.
10/20/2010 10:27:02 AM
its in austria, not australia
10/20/2010 1:04:55 PM
bumfuck means a place where only bums are out fuckin around
10/20/2010 1:06:31 PM
Australia speaks English, I doubt they have a town called "Fucking."
10/20/2010 1:07:35 PM
my bad. My hands got away from my typing and thought I wrote Austria. I just spelled it wrong and auto spell checked without actually looking.
10/20/2010 1:14:14 PM
haha wow. bumfuck or podunk. Good look to people still looking!!
10/20/2010 3:05:03 PM

10/20/2010 4:14:45 PM
okay fine, if you say so.but just remember this: the longer you stay away from real engineering, the more and more difficult it will be to get a job as a real engineer.then before you know it you just work some random corporate IT department with a bunch of IS grads and 2-year-diploma admins, and they find out you have a ME degree, they're all going to be like "wtf d00d"[Edited on October 20, 2010 at 4:20 PM. ^^you're assuming I want an engineering job in the future.
10/20/2010 4:27:27 PM
well, i'm still not getting why you got a degree in something you didnt want to do, such that it took you a year to finally do what (i assume) you want to do.but whatevs, congratulations on getting a job anyhow.
