probably 40 east to 95 south to...um hold up

40 to 17 is the easiest to remember, but 40E to 95S to 74E to SC9 to 17

40 - 95 - SC 9 in dillion, SC9 has 2 or 3 random turns so be careful, watch speed limit in small towns, jumps to 35 and 25 quickly, then 17 to MB

all of the above, but in this priority: fastest, most direct/least turns, shortest, least boring

we'll be driving late at night, after spending all day at the fair, so I'd like to avoid small, slow, backwoods roads whenever possible

there is no such thing as a drive to the NC/SC beaches that isn't boring

agreed, and I know it's impossible to completely avoid small, slow roads....I just want to optimize the route as much as I can

The only ticket I have ever gotten was when I decided to take the backass way home through SC on 9 or whatever. Speed traps everywhere on that route so be careful I always stick to 40 to 17 now.

You would be better off going as east as possible if you are that concerned with water temperature. Water is warmest near the gulf stream (like ocracoke or hattaras). Wrightsville Beach is about 75 right now, and Myrtle beach is showing 71 as an FYI.

1. Get on south saunders going toward garner (get on hwy 401 at the split)
2. Drive till the road stops (it will change names a few times but dont turn)
3. Turn Right onto hwy 17
4. Go strait until you get there

same here. Got a 29 in 25 ticket. seriously. never taking back roads again through SC. I advise you all to stick the main roads.

Coming from wilson, I take 40 east, go through wilmington, go by the battleship then hang a right on 7?17?.

I use to drive to NMB all the time. The fastest way is going how bobster said. There are a few shortcuts on the backroads between Whiteville but there all within about 10 min of each other.
