I had this for dinner night before last. It was win. Campbells canned tomato bisque was WAAAAAAAY tastier than I thought. Doesn't even need the grilled cheese
10/24/2010 3:44:42 PM
sometimes it's best to keep things simple. no need in messing up the OG childhood meal. this WILL be a dinner of mine one night this week. NOM

I wouldn't call disliking kraft singles being a cheese snob but whatever
10/24/2010 4:13:12 PM
a slice each of pepper jack and colby jack cheese on honey wheat bread + tomato basil soup = crazy delicious
10/24/2010 4:13:54 PM
i should point out that kraft singles aren't really cheese
10/24/2010 4:23:04 PM
Ingredients:cheese flavorI'll be making some grilled cheeses soon. Anyone else put mayonnaise on theirs?
10/24/2010 4:27:58 PM
10/24/2010 4:38:10 PM
^ yes. i'll give you that.when i do a simple grilled cheese though, i will use cheddar slices. MAYBE american deli slices. never kraft singles, but i'll allow those in grilled cheese i also like some grainy wheat bread. of couse, this is what my childhood grilled cheeses were made on because we didn't eat white bread so for me that isn't snobbish eitherbut you can definitely spice up the original childhood meal and it is still yummy. and not snobbish (ie mozz and pumpernickel, yummm)i used canned campbell's tomato soup - pretty sure that is the least snobbish thing ever and for some reason campbell's condensed tomato is way better than other canned tomato soups. why?? i tried to branch out, i did, but i just <3 campbell's (this is the only soup of theirs i eat, unless i'm cooking then i might use a french onion or cream of mushroom). usually if i go canned i go progresso but...their tomato is too fancy for me![Edited on October 24, 2010 at 4:45 PM. ^ grosscheeseburgers require actual cheesecheddar, provolone, muenster, gorgonzola, swissETC
10/24/2010 11:53:23 PM
making your own soup is so easy ... just roughly chop carrots, onions, and celery. drop it in a pot of water with a can of crushed tomatoes. bring to a boil and then simmer for 45 min or so. Then blend! it's delicious. you can add any spices or other stuff that you want. If you have an immersion blender it's even easier.

So, khcadwal loves grilled cheese made with kraft singles or other american cheese, right?I'm pretty sure that's what she's saying.
