If so, do you still sit there?
11/17/2010 10:23:46 PM
Yes, in the shed.
11/17/2010 10:24:09 PM
yes, in the bathroom
11/17/2010 10:24:31 PM
Yes. And not normally, but it's only been like two years since we got bumped up.
11/17/2010 10:24:57 PM
the little fuckers can't use the nice chinathey're in the kitchen, the formal dining reserved for the growns ups
11/17/2010 10:25:17 PM
yep, got bumped up when we went to college
11/17/2010 10:27:31 PM
some years I still have to sit there depending on the number of people that came
11/17/2010 10:35:00 PM
I'm 22 and still at the kids table
11/17/2010 10:37:34 PM
Graduated to the big table a few years back...but I've been demoted a couple times since then
11/17/2010 10:40:57 PM
Sometimes I get demoted, but then I'm the de facto leader of the little children, which leads to many pranks.
11/17/2010 10:41:52 PM
yes. still sit there although there are generally 2 kids tables. these days i'm heading up the big kids table with aspirations of making the jump in the coming years.
11/17/2010 11:05:47 PM
Yes.No. I havnt been to a family dinner in about 10 years.
11/17/2010 11:12:44 PM
Depends on who is hosting... Recently free for all on seating lost most of the structure once the kids grow up and have more kids but the adult table doesn't get bigger
11/17/2010 11:14:19 PM
YES!! and we (the kids) are 22 - 34 years old now sometimes my uncles sneak and sit at the kids table because we have more fun, especially the past few years since alcohol has been allowed at the kids tableand we still do dumb/gross things like force my 22 year old brother to stuff as many rolls into his mouth as possible
11/17/2010 11:15:09 PM
I believe that is a variation on Chubby Bunny.
11/17/2010 11:15:46 PM
Yes and still do...but now the people that used to be at the young table are having kids. And the new kids now sit there and they're screwing everything up and I'm caught in the in between.[Edited on November 17, 2010 at 11:17 PM. Reason : ]

^^ it is! and we see how many he can eat, tooone year when he was like 11 he did 24 in like 20 minutes. or something crazy.we need to update those statistics asap. but not at thanksgiving. it'll have to be christmas since my fam chose to do country club thanksgiving this year. blahhhh.
11/17/2010 11:20:52 PM
Yes, but only because the youngest person in my family right now is 18. Therefore all the grandkids sit at one table...which is fine by us because we would much rather all hang out with each other. There isn't a 4th generation at our family gatherings yet.
11/17/2010 11:30:25 PM
I'm gonna have to this year with my son
11/17/2010 11:32:04 PM
Haha, he's getting in the way of sitting at the grown up table...crazy babies and needing constant supervision!
11/17/2010 11:41:18 PM
Yes. I sat at it last year along with my 26 year old sister when we visited family in Jersey...along with about 25 of the other side of the family's closest friends and relatives. (that's 25ish guests, not ppl at the kids table). On the plus side, we got to sit directly infront of the 60+" TV with the game on. Like 5 feet in front of it. Good ol' Thanksgiving.
11/17/2010 11:44:19 PM
most of you seem sad about being at the kids table....Im not!
11/17/2010 11:45:38 PM

11/17/2010 11:46:03 PM

humans are notorious for arbitrary power hierarchies and ridiculous allotment of respect and reverenceif anything the kids should be getting the good meal and the decent table lol old people have literally no capacity to enjoy good things anymore

11/18/2010 12:12:41 AM
and sometimes the brother in law.....since I am the youngest, I was there the longest so I am always at the table now....actually, usually it is one of the two brother-in-laws that end up sitting at that table when everyone shows up (which is rare these days)......

Yes we had a kid's table. We just recently merged with the adult's table even though we're all 30+ now.One of my cousin's recently started knocking up his wife, so I guess we'll have to start a new kid's table soon.I dunno why people in my family are so afraid to procreate or whatever. I'm the only non-married cousin and even I was starting to feel like the pressure was on until one of my cousins had a baby.
11/18/2010 12:51:54 AM
my (in-town) family had a kids table growing up...and we too, still sit at it.9 of us, ranging from 18-28
11/18/2010 1:03:48 AM
The rest of my family is in Louisiana and we rarely sit together for dinner....so no kids tableMy mom throws down in the kitchen and we just graze all day. She's tried to have us sit down and do that "what are you thankful for" bull but that fizzled out pretty quick.Usually I sit around with my dad watching football and westerns most of the day. This year I think I will be here by my lonesome
11/18/2010 1:21:57 AM
For real though...I can't wait to get to that Chicken Pastry, Turkey, Turkey Dressing, Ham, Butterbeans, Mashed Potatos, Sweet Potatos, Cornbread, Collards, Cabbage, Deviled Eggs, Pecan Pie, Chocolate Cake, and all the other stuff my Mammy Fammy hooks up for Thanksgiving and Christmas. It really is a blessing.[Edited on November 18, 2010 at 1:44 AM. Reason : s]

Well my mother will bring me some foods on Wed and it will include:ham, turkey, cornbread dressing, dirty rice, sweet potatoes, turnip greens, mac n cheese, plus some other random yum yums I will just stuff my face on my sofa with my dog lol
11/18/2010 1:54:05 AM
We had one but I never had to sit at it
11/18/2010 2:12:30 AM
I don't remember ever having a kids table. But both my parents and grandparents on my mothers side had dining tables with an add-in middle section that I had to help put in to extend the table any time we had big holiday meals. I always got to eat with the grown ups though, at least as far back as I can remember. On my dads side they just shut down the restaurant for the day & everyone ate there, so there were many tables and booths and no specific kids table to be relegated to. Although I think I probably often, by choice, ate with the relatives who were my own age, but not at a table that was symbolically smaller or farther away in a way that would make it a kids table.Come to think of it, holiday meals these days don't involve kids tables either. All the nephews & nieces sit at the same table as everyone else... sometimes 2 or 3 tables pushed together depending on how many people can make it.
11/18/2010 3:06:30 AM
yesbut i graduated to the adults' table around 12
11/18/2010 5:12:45 AM
I never knew "the kids table" was so common.
11/18/2010 5:53:00 AM
Yeah def had a kids table, in a different room even.
11/18/2010 6:51:35 AM
We had a kid's table and still do but I'm the baby. So the kids table is now filled with 27+ year olds and their spouses.
