I just listened to both songs. He needs to lose the John Lennon singing in the cave voice. I have no problem with ADT, but stop abusing the shit out of it.Musically, nothing really stuck out to me. The guitar playing sounded ok, and the drummer could keep a beat. If someone was listening to this in the car, I wouldn't complain, but it certainly wouldn't be my first choice. In both songs it seems like self-pitty is a major theme. I like how he's trying to use imagery to paint a picture, but in both songs, I'm getting the same message. He feels sorry for himself. It just comes off as annoying. Pop some anti-depressants like every other white guy or wake up and realize you're white, you rule the fucking world. It's easy listening, but it sounds bland to me. Granted, I haven't listened to their album, but if an album only contains 1 or 2 decent songs (and I'm assuming these are their singles, which usually is supposed to be the best or equal to the best songs on an album, as well as representative of the album as a whole), then to me, they're not good.

Nostalgia is a big theme in a lot of their songs... and it can be closely related to feeling sorry for yourself but I think theres a slight difference[Edited on December 10, 2010 at 9:19 PM. Reason : d]

Yeah. I see the nostalgia. But it is possible to look back on your past and be happy or optimistic. I'm not getting that feeling. Remember, I've only listened to each song once and looked up the lyrics. These are just my initial impressions.

They remind me of Fastball.

i only have ever heard of them cause they did a cover of "state of love and trust"... but they really didn't do anything special with it... 2010 old broken drunken vedder even manages more yelps and fire than the gaslight versions i heard... and of course, an elderly mike mccready still shreds the solo harder than what i was presented withi think i've heard a song or two since them, but i don't really hear much more than that same sort of post-94 rock coming out of it.. it's pretty much why i turned off "rock radio" after sp's mellon collie and haven't made a habit of it since...but if those guys like what they're doing, and they have people who like it, then more power to them

^^^Yea, I can't even remember the last time I listened to the radio for any music, but I don't think these guys are on the radio (maybe they are these days though). They aren't a favorite of mine by any means but I did enjoy their second record that they put out about 2-3 years ago I guess (the first song in here is from that album). I can definitely see why they don't really stand out to a lot of people. They don't do anything super new or super imaginative but they are pretty decent songwriters.[Edited on December 10, 2010 at 9:49 PM. Reason : ]
