oh shit, and it automatically stops when it's fullbadass
1/5/2011 11:32:25 AM
that is pretty cool...
1/5/2011 11:33:40 AM
That's pretty amazing. I'd like to see how the rest of that set-up goes (are the kegs directly below it? how long are the keg lines?, etc). There's just a lot that goes into running a decent draft beer set-up, I wonder how easy/fool-proof it is. And obviously it's only going to work currently with those plastic cups. It would be nice if you could do it with a nice pint glass...but those would probably be very expensive.
1/5/2011 11:36:40 AM
Senior design project idea ITT?
1/5/2011 11:37:41 AM
Those have been around for a while but I think were $texas.I cuts down on spillage, head, and allows faster beer filling.
1/5/2011 11:37:42 AM
yeahBUT WHERE'S THE LOVE?
1/5/2011 11:38:11 AM
Damn. I want one.

They use special plastic cups that have magnetic buttons on the bottom. Much more expensive than normal plastic cups.
1/5/2011 11:41:03 AM
And they will still expect a dollar tip .
1/5/2011 11:41:15 AM
i can sit and watch that video over and over.it's beautiful, maaan.
1/5/2011 11:46:05 AM
where can i get one of these?
1/5/2011 11:47:37 AM
It's like magic
1/5/2011 11:48:25 AM
better than magic. it's beer magic.
1/5/2011 11:50:23 AM
1/5/2011 11:50:44 AM
actuallyfrom an anti-consumerism stand pointthe idea of "special" cups makes me hate this kind of thingkind of like how I hate those 1-cup coffee makersfucking things
1/5/2011 11:56:23 AM
^^ in general i'd agree, but who cares about the head on a riceweiser?
1/5/2011 12:10:04 PM
1/5/2011 12:10:47 PM
i guess they don't collect and wash the cups, so it sucks
1/5/2011 12:13:16 PM
so when the keg empties out is it going to shoot up like old faithful?
1/5/2011 12:21:34 PM
but if the magnet comes out, then they can be recycled just like any other cupdoesn't offset the waste involved in making/using the magnets, but at least the cups themselves can go back into the system
1/5/2011 12:22:31 PM
Obviously the technology needs to be improved upon to make it more conducive to be used more widespread. It's still really fucking cool, though. Imagine how much faster the bar would be if they had two or three of these dispensers.
1/5/2011 12:25:10 PM
1/5/2011 12:34:00 PM
It is still probably faster and cheaper to just hand out a can.
1/5/2011 12:36:32 PM
^ but not as cool
1/5/2011 12:37:32 PM
I don't care how my beer cup is filled. I just want it filled.
1/5/2011 12:38:17 PM
Well, you're obviously not a nerd, then.
1/5/2011 12:39:30 PM
that looked like it was at a sporting event or concert-type place where you're already paying 10 bucks for the beer. if a "regular" bar were to use this, they'd probably have to pass that cost onto the patrons. Maybe short term rentals would be interesting for trendy spots, but bars that attract customers by charging more are unusual. If you go somewhere exclusive just for the pleasure of not getting slobbed on by idiots or to drink something not widely available, would you really want to drink it out of a plastic cup? I guess it would be cool at a casino, strip club or other place where the cost of drinks are inflated already and something else is already attracting customers.
1/5/2011 12:53:12 PM
Yeah...I think this would be ideal just for sporting events, concerts, and similar events. Maybe for an extremely busy bar that sells cheap draft beer...but you'd have to find some way to make it cost effective so you don't pass on too much of that cost to the customer (the type of customers that would frequent a place like this would do it for inexpensive beer).Still interesting nonetheless.

DUDE:Who needs a bartender? JUST MAKE THE THINGS DISPENSE BEER FOR MONEY LIKE A VENDING MACHINE. 1) INSERT THREE TO FIVE DOLLARS2) PUT CUP ON BEER DISPENSER OF CHOICE3) PROFIT
1/5/2011 1:16:11 PM
When these become available for the public I do believe I will be purchasing one...you know just to be like yea OK your 52" TV is pretty bad ass but can it do this...
1/5/2011 1:39:15 PM
It's really cool but I don't want to drink a $9 craft microbrew hi-grav from a plastic cup and a machine. WHERE ARE THE TULIP GLASSES??But shit, if they had these at the bowling alley I would go all the time
1/5/2011 2:02:54 PM
You, sir, are a beer snob.
1/5/2011 2:04:25 PM

Firstly, Metricula is female. Secondly, I think if I had one of these in my home I'd become an alcoholic.

North Carolina will find a way to ban this
1/5/2011 3:27:02 PM
It's cool! I'm kind of a tomboy and a beer snob from working at bars with only local or craft on tap. But if this thing was attached to a keg of Bud Lite Lime, sign me up. That stuff is the best cheap/evil beer in the world.

1/5/2011 8:22:45 PM
my god! I can't believe you people like this thing?!?! all this is going to do is entice children to drink! they'll be stumbling to school and in church. the college kids won't go to class anymore. and the poor will quit spending money on food and instead, on beer. this has to be banned before it ruins our state and nation. I'm calling the abc tomorrow!
1/5/2011 8:25:25 PM
1/5/2011 8:26:57 PM
yes you can...they just don't make any money on them and are legally allowed to tell you not to recycle certain FORMS of plastic, but are legally obligated to accept any plastic that they are authorized to process
1/5/2011 8:41:25 PM
if they don't make any money off of it, where do you think it goes...
1/5/2011 8:42:55 PM
i'm just pointing out that what you said is utterly incorrectalso, they get into serious poo if they toss out recyclable products because they can't make money on it...besides, the autosorting machines aren't going to toss out the less profitable forms[Edited on January 5, 2011 at 8:45 PM.
