lasts about 7-10 seconds...Recently, I've been having a lot of those 7-10 second spells and say really flippant things when asked lots of questions in rapid succession.*sigh*I watch people smoke and I keep thinking I'm depriving myself, but I know I'm not. Cigs are especially crazy expensive here and my will is too strong or I'm just too stubborn to break down.alright, urge is over... Thanks TWW

i've found that the urges go away after a week or so. i still find myself wanting to light up in social situations where alcohol is being consumed though.

I haven't had one in 2 days and I'm thinkin I might just roll with it. I've been running for the past couple weeks and Its so much easier just after 48 hours

When I was in Charleston, I was at about a pack a day. Running was really what helped me quit- especially if I could squeeze a run in right when I got a craving. I'd usually get during the run, but after a couple weeks, the cravings were minimal and I didn't feel like death anymore.Good luck man

Yea I feel quitting is less about beating an addiction but finding a positive addiction substitute...i saw this show the other night where this bitch was addicted to comet, the household cleaner and at first I wanted to hate, but then realized I was putting disgusting chemicals in my body too...its almost just as bad

the gum is extremely helpful to get over that initial hump.best of luck to ya.

hold up....commet is addictive?

apparentlyThe show he is talking about is "My Strange Addiction". It's actually pretty entertaining. There was another girl that was addicted to drinking washing machine detergent and eating chalk. Another was addicted to sleeping with the hair dryer on etc... comes on the same channel as "Intervention".[Edited on January 14, 2011 at 10:16 AM. Reason : .]

I smoked a pack or more a day and then quit cold turkey and haven't even had a drag in 2+ years. It's not really that hard. Get over the physical addiction part (48 hours) and then it's all mental. You just have to convince yourself "it's not something I do anymore" and then don't smoke, especially when you have a bad day or whatever. Your dog dies, don't smoke. You wreck your car? don't smoke. You fail a class you need to graduate? don't smoke. You just have to eliminate it as a coping device or "only when I'm drinking", etc. because one drag is all it takes to start that ball rolling again, whether it's immediate or slow.

I quit a couple months ago... smoked the last cigarette of my pack before going to England for 5 days. When I came back, I just didn't buy any more (and gave away all my camel coupons.. those things make it hard to quit)I have since bummed one here and there, and my reaction has varied from kinda gross to delicious little crack stick. I definitely don't crave them daily like I used to, and haven't felt the need to buy a pack of my own.I've tried quitting in the past, and been very unsuccessful. Usually buying a pack while out drinking, and the ball keeps rolling from there. I think the difference here was the fact that went so long without easy access to them, and by the time I came back, I made myself stick to it. Like I said, it hasn't been a completely clean break, but the constant cravings from previous attempts aren't really there any more.I feel fairly confident that I won't relapse, but we'll see..

They should come up with a dick flavored cigarette. Then when you get the urge to smoke your all like "ugh I don't want to smoke dick."

i've gotten to the point where i don't even think about smoking while at work anymore which is a huge step forward. i'll bum a smoke here and there when hanging out with friends but i'm talking like 3 or 4 a month which to me is a success given i would go through two or three packs a week.
