Hmmm, OK. Well, I just started it. Has a long way to go. And it's from a photo reference of actual people.Anything in particular you don't like about it (aside from it being about 1/6 complete)? Be good to know now so I can fix it before getting everything laid out and start really rendering. It's pastel, so anything there now is really just a place holder for reference as I lay out the rest.I welcome feedback, it's the first time I've used pastels. Especially when it's complete. I don't think it would be of much use now since it will change quite a bit.

so what if it was complete. it'd be like abstract art maaaaaaaaan. you just don't know good arts
1/21/2011 1:43:36 PM
If it was complete, abstract or not, I would complain about awkward body positions and unappealing subjects. I would be displeased, disappointed, uncomfortable, and itchy. But that's just like, my opinion, man.]

i will pay one million dollars for this incomplete piece. but if you work one iota more on it deal is off the table.

^ see, this guy gets good art

lol, it took me a second to see that those wispy white lines were a girl...I thought this dude was blowing artsy chunks over his table.I kinda like it

i'll post pictures in my gallery and the "what did you make" lounge thread when it's done (along with the reference photo). but yeah, not close to finished, i haven't even sketched in the chair he's sitting on. --- maybe that's what making it look so awkard? he's sitting in a chair leaning forward. I guess i know that and see it in my head, but maybe it's not obvious in its current state.I don't necessarily disagree with walkmanfades though - the body positions are a little awkward. although, i don't think they will seem quite as awkward once more is roughed in. But I can't change the body positions or the subjects too much and keep fidelity. It's meant to be a personal momento more than some eye catching piece of art.

I think you're on to something. The missing chair is really fucking with me. I look forward to seeing the completed piece. I am a custom knife hoarder and I am considering diversifying my portfolio to include pastels and velvet paintings.

hmm, have you considered commissioning a custom painting on velvet... perhaps of an ironic death by self-defense knife hoarding? it could help ease you into such diversification and it may make for a great conversation piece!

Leave it like this man.I think as it is now, it's a picture of a man losing everything. The faded chalk outline of a girl, his missing seat, and his facing is fading (indicating he's even losing himself). You could sell this man. It's art.
