Anyone here ever grown Salvia Divinorum? I'm thinking about buying a plant so I can chew the leaves. It's supposed to put you in a pretty cool mental state. It's not like that shitty fake stuff from the gas stations that kids smoke, rather the real plant that indians used to use for rituals, meditating etc. It's totally legal, I just don't know anyone personally who's tried chewing the leaves.

have you done any google research, and following reading. There are a couple of very informative sites on the web.It takes quite a few leaves, and they taste very bitter from the reading I've done. Also read that it is a relatively difficult plant to get to stay alive.

Yes, I've read up on it a good deal. I was just looking for some personal experiences from ya'll. [Edited on February 3, 2011 at 4:27 PM. Reason : .]

haha... I heard it was illegal now, but honestly a slap on the wrist would be a harsher punishment than that ^^[Edited on February 3, 2011 at 4:27 PM. Reason : ^]

Well I don't know about what's being sold in gas stations now, but before last year, you could easily buy "the real deal" in many headshops. Smoking the leaves is more popular because chewing them sucks and is inefficient. Smoking the extract is more popular because smoking cured leaves sucks. The seed isn't very viable, so you need to find a cutting or rooted plant. I got one from the farmers market a few years ago, but I forgot which vendor had it. This is a big plant we are talking about, they frequently get more than a meter in height. they also get pretty floppy so plan on staking it if you want to see flowers. Grow it in a large container (2 gal+) outside, overwinter inside in a sunny spot. You may be able to overwinter it outside by planting in the ground and cutting the stems off about 6" high (below any surviving leaves) and mulch it heavily, but it's not as cold hardy as some of the other sages that are more popular as garden plants. For a nice site with more detailed cultivation info and more, check out http://www.sagewisdom.org[Edited on February 3, 2011 at 4:34 PM. Reason : it's [i]Salvia divinorum[i]]

^^^^^Can you get high just off the herbs in K2? I thought it had to have that synthetic stuff sprayed on it? I don't wanna smoke it anyways. Never been a big smoker so being able to chew natural salvia was attractive to me.[Edited on February 3, 2011 at 4:32 PM. Reason : ^]

chewing works, takes a while, but it works

thnx for the info. I know that chewing doesnt get you as high, but I'm honestly not trying to get super fucked up and trippy. Chewing is supposed to provide a deeper and longer lasting experience. Guess I'll check the farmers market to see if anyones got the plant.

well, you probably won't find one til the summer unless you do mail order also, being "just a little high" doesn't make it deeper or more long lasting. I also scoff at using drugs to emulate a mystical experience

the last time i chewed some i thought the walls were moving, it was actually kind of terrifying. i can't remember how many leaves i had, but it was a good sized wad and i had it in my lip for about 30 minutes before i really started to feel anything. i don't know that it lasted any longer, but it took longer to get there.

yeah, i think those kind of visual distortions are pretty common with it, along with strange physical sensations and proprioception. Higher doses can give you closed or even open eye hallucinations, but it's hard to chew that much.
