Brain tissue deforms similarly to filled elastomers and follows consolidation theory, meaning, if you apply a constant load to a sample of brain tissue, it will deform slowly like clay soil under drained conditions. On the other hand, when you pull brain tissue apart it tears like a fiber. WOW
