it was unanimous among all the security council that this action be taken. the US is one part to all of this and France actually went in first.even the arab nations requested help be sent[Edited on March 20, 2011 at 4:55 PM. Reason : .]

3/20/2011 5:00:53 PM
It was unanimous in the sense that there were no opposing votes, but not in the sense that all members of the Security Council approved it. The vote was 10-0, and among the abstentions were both Russia and China, who have veto power.
3/20/2011 5:10:38 PM
yea both of them wondered if this was what should be done. but they didnt want to stand in the way. but they voted for it. otherwise they would have gotten flack about it.

We've lost like 3 F15-E's in their ~30 year existence. All (to my knowledge) were due to mechanical failure. You drive your car for 30 years and make sure to hit it's top speed once/week and see if something doesn't fall off when you're cruising across the desert.Actually, it was probably the first time it had been authorized for military thrust in 5 years. That might have contributed.[Edited on March 23, 2011 at 9:45 AM. Reason : .]

God damn it there goes my $.34 worth of fighter jet down the drain.
3/23/2011 9:56:01 AM
^^And the planes probably average many hours of maintenance for every hour of flight. Pretty sure my car could handle it if I had a team of mechanics on that thing after every commute...but that's why the fail rate is small. So yeah.[Edited on March 23, 2011 at 10:08 AM. Reason : -]
