But now if you were like "Hey what did you get on your SATs?"No one would remember. I don't even remember what I made on my SAT. 12 something, but that's all I remember.
3/20/2011 11:09:29 PM
1390 first time, 1460 second time. 1290 on the gre
3/20/2011 11:10:34 PM
they are scored differently now anyways
3/20/2011 11:10:40 PM
Apparently, some people still do brag.
3/20/2011 11:12:18 PM
yeah my younger brother was all like I got a 1650 on my SAT...and I was like "how the hell did you get that score?" and then I was like "oh yeah, you gotta write now"my other brother fell asleep during his SAT so we're not even sure what he got
3/20/2011 11:12:34 PM
It's not just that they're scored differently, the math section went from algebra 1 and I think trig material to covering up to Algebra 2. I think the lit section got easy, but the writing sucked ass.
3/20/2011 11:16:15 PM
1510, back when 1600 was the top score
3/20/2011 11:18:09 PM
AHA, sawahash, it sounds like you kicked your brothers' butts. You need to get to bragging!
3/20/2011 11:22:40 PM
Most places I applied to used the ACT (Vandy, UT, Marquette, Georgetown and GT), not the SAT so I dont remember what I got, but I do remember not knowing you could take in a fucking calculator. [Edited on March 20, 2011 at 11:26 PM. Reason : 34 on the ACT]
3/20/2011 11:25:28 PM
Also 12 something. I dunno now.Got a 1340 on the GRE though.
3/20/2011 11:30:00 PM
870 I think
3/20/2011 11:32:40 PM
It looks like people who made 1400+ remember their scores, and people who made "12 somethings" don't.Hmmmmm...
3/20/2011 11:33:53 PM
took it 3 times110013201290
3/20/2011 11:36:27 PM
Good enough to get into state
3/20/2011 11:40:22 PM
I remember I did pretty shitty on the SAT by my standards, but don't remember what it was.Nor give a shit.
3/20/2011 11:42:19 PM
^^^^ Makes sense though, if your score isn't memorable you'll be less likely to remember it. I think I got a 1270 but I'm not that sure.^^^ Shoot I was happy enough with my 12 something on my first SAT. If I got a 1320 I'd stop there.[Edited on March 20, 2011 at 11:44 PM. Reason : ]
3/20/2011 11:42:43 PM
well my goal was to get a 1400 that last timedid not happen
3/20/2011 11:43:14 PM
I got a 1600 and subsequently went to NC State for pottery.
3/20/2011 11:44:24 PM
I know a guy who went somewhere to study pottery, actually
3/20/2011 11:45:18 PM
I actually got deferred from both UNC and NC State because my GPA wasn't very good. Eventually got into both but picked state because I wanted to go into CS. If I knew I'd switch majors I'd have gone to UNC instead honestly, and I would have definitely been happier with the sports teams I cheer for
3/20/2011 11:47:06 PM
I made a 1400 on the SAT, was wait listed and not accepted into UNC-CH, and I was technically a legacy or whatever.I'm openly bitter.
3/21/2011 12:07:31 AM
Back when we thought that a high SAT score was all that mattered. But look no matter what you got, we all ended up here...on the same message board talking the same shit to each other.
3/21/2011 12:13:02 AM
^^ How did that happen?[Edited on March 21, 2011 at 12:13 AM. Reason : I, too, would be bitter]
3/21/2011 12:13:09 AM
i had some bitch tell me she was gonna go to the tech, then transfer to a 4 year, then go to lawschool. i asked how her SATs went, she was like I got a 720. "on which part". "combined.">.<then she asked what i got. i was like "740... on the math"
3/21/2011 12:21:14 AM
I got a 1520...good enough to get in here. One of the girls that I took it with made lower than her boyfriend, and he forgot to bring a calculator. Ex-girlfriend's was so low, she was rejected from ECU. Shame.
3/21/2011 12:25:59 AM
No, I don't remember because I try not to brag about anything, it either makes you look like an idiot or makes other people feel bad.I'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message.[Edited on March 21, 2011 at 12:26 AM. Reason : now don't you feel bad about bragging?]
3/21/2011 12:26:18 AM
^^^^And this was back when their SAT average was like 1250, too.I took AP classes. I made all As and Bs except for a C in ELP or something. I didn't do much in the way of activities. I didn't take the AP exams. I was blackballed from NHS by a teacher who accused me of cheating (but could never prove it cause I didn't cheat). And I went to a competitive high school--I didn't crack the top ten percent for class rank.A family member of mine (who was also a legacy kid) made a 1380 on the SAT, was in NHS, was in the top ten percent of her extremely competitive, nationally-recognized high school, did take/make 5s on her AP exams, and she did do a bunch of extracurricular activities. She came along four years before me and didn't get into Chapel Hill either...so we weren't surprised when I didn't.I guess my mom musta rubbed some people the wrong way when she ditched the sexist pigs at a liberal Chapel Hill to get her PhD from a real school like State. GO PACK!!![Edited on March 21, 2011 at 12:53 AM. Reason : They really were sexist, and State was better.]
3/21/2011 12:29:05 AM
3/21/2011 12:30:17 AM
that's wild. I made a 1320 and her AP scores were overall better than mine, and I got into UNC... I know a few people who'd say I was surprised about getting accepted.
3/21/2011 12:31:44 AM
^^^^way to brag about not bragging, douche [Edited on March 21, 2011 at 12:32 AM. Reason : .]
3/21/2011 12:32:04 AM
3/21/2011 12:34:20 AM
i wish i didn't remember my SAT scores, but unfortunately i remember quite clearly that i got an embarrassing 670/630, and then an even more embarrassing 650/650.i've found that people are much more cryptic about GRE scores. not in this thread though.[Edited on March 21, 2011 at 12:43 AM. Reason : also, anyone who just gives a sum for a GRE score should be punched in the face.]
3/21/2011 12:43:14 AM
^^^^It has a lot to do with geography. They can only accept so many kids from Wake County, and within a county, only so many kids from each school. Her situation was still insane though...they actually thought there might have been a mistake and called people up and stuff to try to get her paperwork corrected...and they were like, "Nope, no mistake."^GRE confession: 1280 (640/640). My goal score was 1300, and I was upset that I missed it by 20 points. I told a bunch of people, hoping they would tell me that a 1280 was good, and they did not. AHA[Edited on March 21, 2011 at 12:49 AM. Reason : Don't punch me!]
3/21/2011 12:47:03 AM
GRE confession: i got a comical 470 verbal. i know natives of india who did better than that.
3/21/2011 12:49:04 AM
3/21/2011 12:49:27 AM
did you mean to leave off your quantitative or did you mean 750 quantitative and decide not to boast your analytical score?
3/21/2011 12:51:03 AM
I don't understand your question.[Edited on March 21, 2011 at 12:54 AM. Reason : Oh shit you're right. I meant quantitiative. I didn't even write the essay lol.]
3/21/2011 12:53:21 AM
the GRE has three sections: quantitative, verbal and analytical. you only posted two.
3/21/2011 12:54:57 AM
Check the edit.I got a 590 verbal, 750 quantitative, and a zero analytical (didn't need it).
3/21/2011 12:56:25 AM
I got into NCSU with an 1140
3/21/2011 1:05:29 AM
I actually think all the scores, including your 1140, in this thread are good--even my 1280 GRE that I pretended was bad is good to me.Except for willembahh. That guy was a jerk about his score and talking smack about how his ex-girl didn't get into ECU. Boooooo on him.
3/21/2011 1:11:16 AM
i remember numbers very wellfirst time i took it i was smart on math (710) and retarded on english (510)after taking it a 3rd time i finally got a 570 on english and was like 'fuck it'apparently the test writers opinion on the "best" answer and my opinion differ
3/21/2011 1:12:59 AM
I got a 6 on the analytical writing for the GRE. then I went home and cooked a home run inn mini pizza in the microwave at my parent's house.
3/21/2011 1:24:45 AM
3/21/2011 1:27:13 AM
AHA
3/21/2011 1:29:58 AM
3/21/2011 1:36:13 AM
umad? These scores are pointless anyway, especially the SAT since we all ended up at NC State no matter what we scored.
3/21/2011 1:37:33 AM
o, r they
3/21/2011 1:38:37 AM
^^ not mad in the sliiiiiiiightest/message_topic.aspx?topic=610423note: i am being a total asshole right now.
