The only way I can see that it would be disrespectful is because we associate the word with childish/tiny things, so it's possibly making them seem feeble. Even then that's a connotation and not what's being implied.

to me, it's comparable to belittling someone by saying "aww, you're so cute", except you're doing it to a person who has experienced way more than you have.unless you mean physically cute, in which case:
