so i was listening to a podcast this week by hoodhype.com they play a lot of underground music and they show alot of love to the NC hip hop sceneanyway, theres a groupd called Cooley High from NC, and they were spinning a track to today, and I hear Charlie Smarts on the track. It made me wonder what happened to urban sophisticates, they had a bad ass beat boxer. Do they still make music, is charlie smarts with cooley high, or you think he was just featured on the track?Reminds me of good times and good music at Ruckus.

^^unfortunately I don't have anything to add to this thread other than the fact that I have not heard anyone talk of them in many, many years so I'm interested in the answer.[Edited on March 28, 2011 at 4:46 PM. Reason : .]

I'm pretty sure Charlie Smarts is considered one of the main members of Kooley High.I think he left Gboro and came to Raleigh, helped form Inflowential which later grew into Kooley HighI'm not an expert though[Edited on March 28, 2011 at 4:55 PM. Reason : also Urban Sophisticates are a good time!!!!]

yeah, i was confused when you referred to urban having a beatboxer, but they've had so many people come and go over the years i thought it could have been someone i'd missed seeing

I've seen them many times over the past 4-5 years and can never remember them having a real beatboxer...regardless they're pretty bad ass and put on a good show. Highly recommend

Inflowential had the beatboxer. You're associating it with Urban because Inflow and Urban Sophisticates used to play bills together nonstop circa 2004-2006.Urban has never played Ruckus (too many band members, want too much money--which is fine)yes, Charlie Smarts is of Kooley High and Inflow fame.and yes, they are getting a TON of play right now on a lot of college stations.their beatboxer, btw, is on TWW. So is Charlie Smarts (LexVegas)can't recall Adid's handle.[Edited on March 29, 2011 at 3:08 PM. Reason : asdfdsss]

BTW, Congrats on getting hitched Joel!Haha, I didn't realize that I have been a member of two badass hip hop bands all these years!Click the link below to check out Inflow on the cover of the April issue of Magazine33.http://www.magazine33.comIn Feb. this year, Inflow launched it's free app for the iPhone and iPad just search for it at the App Store. http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/inflowential/id418928113?mt=8This past August Inflow released a special edition of our first release The Inflow EP on Itunes and all digital retailers worldwide.http://ax.itunes.apple.com/us/artist/inflowential/id396202461No, but seriously Inflow is far from over or on a backburner. Kooley and Inflow are but 2 sides of the same M.E.C.C.A. Records coin. We decided that Kooley's album would come out first. Which it did this past summer and now has worldwide distribution thru FatBeats. We are now about to enter the summer of Inflow.Neither Inflow or Kooley are side projects and never have been. We just had to strategize. While Inflow hasn't been doing as many shows as we are usually known to do, behind the scenes we have been perfecting our recording technique by recording more in the past 2 years than ever in our 8 year history. We also just signed with a new booking agency which books for us at colleges and universities nationwide. As a wolf web exclusive (haha) I will let you guys know that between now and the fall school semester Inflow will be: 1. Launching an awesome new website 2. Releasing a new free mixtape of all original songs 3. Filming and releasing a few videos 4. Finally releasing our first album "After This.." 5. A few other surprises... (gotta leave some things to the imagination)[Edited on April 3, 2011 at 4:05 PM. Reason : embed didn't work]
