my coworker just gave me a strange look for ordering a beerpersonally i like a beer or two at lunch and think that i'm a little more productive in the afternoon when i have one
3/29/2011 12:46:04 PM
you're a drunk!
3/29/2011 12:47:20 PM
lush
3/29/2011 12:47:44 PM
My productivity ends for that day with my first sip of alcohol.
3/29/2011 12:48:45 PM
^ ! not to mention if anything is stamp signed sealed or designed as an engineer under the influence....that would be liability out the yin/yang
3/29/2011 12:50:05 PM
i'd say here in america it goes against the grain to drink during the lunch hour; however, with saying that, i have done it and immediately wanted to take a nap after lunch and will never do it again unless i have the afternoon off.
3/29/2011 12:50:26 PM
a beer or two is a long way from being under any kind of influence
3/29/2011 12:50:50 PM
yeah I would personally be more prone to falling asleep if I had a beer or two
3/29/2011 12:51:02 PM
3/29/2011 12:51:53 PM
its funny because we even have beer in the fridge but no one ever touches them. sometimes i wonder if they were put there as some kind of test.[Edited on March 29, 2011 at 12:57 PM. Reason : incriminate? i'm closer to 30 than 21]
3/29/2011 12:52:26 PM
just tell the person the water there is tainted
3/29/2011 12:53:07 PM
One of my clients has beer on tap in the kitchen. Pretty sure it's just for happy hours and stuff like that, but it's still funny.
3/29/2011 12:55:28 PM
day drinking...white chicks cherish it
3/29/2011 1:27:45 PM
Meh a glass of wine or a beer at lunch isnt the end of the world *shrug*
3/29/2011 1:30:48 PM
Personally I don't see anything wrong with this. It's about knowing whether a beer is going to affect you at work. I would sometimes drink a half pint with lunch at my previous job. I wouldn't have advertised this to my boss but it was one of those things everyone seemed to do but no one mentioned it.
3/29/2011 1:32:23 PM
My company expressly bans it.
3/29/2011 1:35:29 PM
So does mine so I no longer do it
3/29/2011 1:40:48 PM
I typically dont drink during the weekHaving said that, if I'm not working that afternoon, who gives a fuck
3/29/2011 1:42:33 PM
3/29/2011 1:43:46 PM
we used to have beer Friday where the PM would get a 12 pk and we'd have a brew in the afternoon while workingbut not really anymore
3/29/2011 1:47:00 PM
I always wanted to hear the story of what happened that made them cover not drinking at lunch so thoroughly in the conduct guidelines
3/29/2011 1:47:53 PM
Just not a good idea.
3/29/2011 1:50:49 PM
3/29/2011 1:51:05 PM
I work with explosives...so no, not really allowed.
3/29/2011 1:52:17 PM
It's your life. Do what you want. A beer at lunch is not really worth discussing imo.
3/29/2011 1:53:18 PM
It doesn't really affect me to where I can't do my work properly...but it affects me to where I say to myself, "fuck work, I'd rather keep drinking."So I've done it and been fine, but I'd keep drinking instead of going back to work most of the time.
3/29/2011 1:55:29 PM
3/29/2011 2:00:16 PM
3/29/2011 2:02:17 PM
3/29/2011 2:06:15 PM
drinking beer at lunch couldn't possibly make me any less productive than i already am...but i still don't do it....(unless i'm the only one in the office on a friday and happen to have a stocked cooler in the car )
3/29/2011 2:09:00 PM

3/29/2011 2:10:19 PM

3/29/2011 2:13:40 PM

3/29/2011 2:16:24 PM
I just had 2 blue moonshate hate hate
3/29/2011 2:29:20 PM
I would hate on you for drinking 2 Blue Moons on a Saturday night because its a bitch beerDo you like an orange slice on your boyfriend's dick when you suck it too?
3/29/2011 2:32:05 PM
had 2 longhammer IPAs with lunch today, rally point has $2.50 pints every tuesday and half price wings so we've started going there every week.
3/29/2011 2:37:50 PM
3/29/2011 3:25:53 PM
you really, REALLY don't want to argue that point with me...REALLY
3/29/2011 3:27:53 PM
3/29/2011 3:38:49 PM
It's fine! As long as you don't get "drunk" there's nothing wrong with it. People are too uptight in America.
3/29/2011 3:46:39 PM
I encourage it
3/29/2011 3:47:47 PM
Ever since I started watching Mad Men I keep a side table covered in liquor bottles in my office and nap all afternoon.
3/29/2011 3:48:17 PM
Only if you are still sober from breakfast
3/29/2011 4:00:14 PM
I don't see a problem with having a beer with lunch...especially on a nice day at a place w/outside seating.Though I've also been guilty of starting with a beer and not going back to work
3/29/2011 4:00:22 PM
3/29/2011 4:00:59 PM
tried it once, took a nap the rest of the afternoon. Never again
3/29/2011 4:03:38 PM
I drink enough beer to get a buzz, and if I get a buzz I ain't working. But I can see how people who drink for the taste (haha) can do this.
3/29/2011 4:04:03 PM
The only work I do after a few beers involves an xbox.
3/29/2011 4:04:50 PM
Only if you're an exec
3/29/2011 4:04:59 PM
There's nothing wrong with having 1-2 beers over lunch. I did it all the time when I lived in NYC. People in America are too uptight and too litigous.
