I got this today at a vintage shirt sale and tried doing a quick google search of Mr. Wuf on steroids and got nada. The guy who was selling the shirts said the tag style looks like it could be from the late 70s or early 80s... Any ideas?

5/29/2011 2:13:49 PM

5/29/2011 2:26:50 PM
where did you find that? I'd like to have one for a gym shirt.
5/29/2011 2:42:51 PM
I bet its an old weightlifting or wrestling team shirt or something
5/29/2011 2:45:24 PM
My dad went to NCSU in the 70s. I don't know about all those muscles, but the face is definitely vintage strutting wolf Tuffy. Before they made Mr. Wuf "kid friendly."
5/29/2011 2:46:16 PM
^ do you think you could show him and see if he knows what year?
5/29/2011 3:04:19 PM
yeah that is definitely Tuffy, not Mr. Wuf, but unfortunately I have no added info to give you.
5/29/2011 3:06:03 PM
:Samwise comes walking along and sees a Mr Wuf shirt:Samwise: "Hey, what's this?!"Guy Selling Shirt: "I dunno, what is it?"Samwise: "This shirt with Mr. Wuf on steriods. How old is it?"Guy Selling Shirt: "Hmm. It looks to be a tag style from the late 70s or early 80s"Samwise: "Oh."Guy Selling Shirt: "That's the only one we have."Samwise: "OH SHIT! I'll take it. My boo will LUV it!!"Guy Selling Shirt: "Thank you! Come again!:samwise exits store::Guy Selling Shirt pulls another Mr Wuf on steroids shirt from behind the counter and places it on display:
5/29/2011 3:06:25 PM
are there any dates on the tag?
5/29/2011 3:45:13 PM
^2 It was a vintage t-shirt show/sale. He didn't even know Mr. Wuf, and I was going to buy it anyways. The way he could pick the time frame via the tag was a) the company, b) it says "Made in U.S.A.", and c) the font they used.Get a life, broseph.^Nah... nothing that I can find. I even looked on the inside for one of those inspector tags just in casePP, I thought Tuffy was Mr. Wuf? I googled and found the strutting wolf is Tuffy... whoops you learn something new every day[Edited on May 29, 2011 at 3:53 PM. Reason : .][Edited on May 29, 2011 at 3:54 PM. Reason : .]

5/29/2011 4:01:53 PM

5/29/2011 4:02:25 PM

5/29/2011 5:21:53 PM
wrestling pants? if it was for wrestling, I'm 100% certain they would have gone with a singlet... not some WWE style pants.
5/29/2011 5:51:58 PM
They'd put those goofy looking ear protectors on his head, too, if it were wrestling
5/29/2011 6:09:17 PM
i wonder if it was weight training for football
5/29/2011 7:12:21 PM

5/30/2011 12:17:25 AM
I've never heard of a vintage shirt sale before. Is it just a convention of sorts that sets up at the fairgrounds?

8/25/2011 10:54:18 PM
^^ I think you should send a picture to http://web.ncsu.edu/trademarks/ and ask them for the details behind it.
