Anybody else know what I'm talking about? On I-40W right after you go under Jones Sausage (exit 303) off to the right there is a small patch of trees between 40 and the on-ramp that has a tent set up in it. Its been there for several months at least, but it's not on google maps. It looks like there are some other items around the tent too, like it's a proper campground, but I am always moving too quickly to tell for sure. Anybody know what the deal is?

probably a group of "homeless" beggars like at the intersection of I-40 and Chapel Hill Rd (54)

i saw it last week coming back through Raleigh from wilm. It's pretty big. whoever is living there is ballin'.

Its been there a year at least IIRC. I have seen people over there visiting too, I guess dropping off supplies and I have seen the cops totally ignoring it. Maybe its legal to squat in the wooded areas of an overpass interchange?

There's one at the overpass of Fayetteville Rd. & hwy 40 too. Been there for a few weeks at least, and it's in perfectly plain view.

I have emailed a Garner PD source who would know about this. Will let ya know what I find out.

Cool, thanks.

I saw it the last two times I was up in Raleigh and I very rarely head up that way. Definitely thought it was curious.

It's just a hobo camp. We had some pretty elaborate ones in similar wooded areas by 40 back home. The cops finally went and told everyone to get lost, followed by chopping down all the trees

The guy's name is Douglas, and he lives on the opposite side of from another homeless dude who is some veteran with mental issues. Not sure which one's tent that is. Douglas went to Florida or something, and the other guy is up in CT or something now.True story.

I know that one of the homeless guys on Jones Sausage Rd. has a dog that stands with him...just a few miles from there at White Oak Crossing a few years ago there was a guy that would have a sign that read something like "why lie? I need a drink" a lot of people gave him money because they loved the honesty
