My tomatoes still aren't in the ground yet. I was lazy and put them in ~2 gallon pots to get them out of the tiny little containers they came in, and now a couple weeks later I have 5 ~2 ft tall tomato plants still in pots. Going to be a bitch to get them transplanted and caged (though I finally have the ground prepped to put them in this evening and tomorrow evening). That and some arugula are all that's going in the ground though, along with some existing chard. Peppers, herbs, and lettuce worked just fine in containers last year so I'll be doing the same this year. Eggplant wasn't worth the space it took up for the yield I got. My strawberry plant was a colossal failure.

my pepper plant and tomato plant are still in pots... i don't know if i'm going to put them in the ground or not... i don't really have a good place for them to go that gets enough sun besides my back deck.

I planted some seeds in cut-off plastic bottles Tuesday night or so
6/2/2011 12:23:09 PM
planting seeds is such a pain in the ass. it's so much easier to buy an already established plant.
6/2/2011 12:34:12 PM
You know what's kind of cool though is seed tape. That's what we used for arugula last year. Just dig a shallow trench, unroll the shit, and cover it back with dirt. Very easy. The seeds sprout, the tape decomposes, and you have a nicely spaced row of plants to show for it.

Plant tomatoes? Shit. Just tell some lousy jokes and tomatoes come flying out of thin air
