I wish i could walk in here and buy a new game without being:Asked if i'm looking forward to any games coming out soon (a trap to lure you into the whole pre-order conversation).Asked to sign up for a card continuously after saying no several times.Being told to pre-order a game when there are clearly no advantages to it except losing flexibility to buy the game anywhere. More often than not, i care little about the "bonuses" you get from pre-ordering, and sometimes I get the bonuses anyway if i buy the game on day of release.Being ostracized for rejecting any of the above offers.
6/13/2011 10:31:39 AM
Which is why I buy most of my games online now.
6/13/2011 10:32:48 AM
Which is why I play games on consoles 15 years or older, thus unavail through such an irritating retail outlet.]
6/13/2011 10:38:41 AM
I havent bought a new game in a while, but Gamestop employees have always come across as douchebags to me
6/13/2011 10:46:50 AM
i went to gamestop once and when i was buying a game, the conversation with the cashier went something like this:Me: Yeah I'd like to buy this (I hand him the game)Cashier: Great, do you need anything else?Me: No(Cashier scans the game)Cashier: Okay, your total is XX(I hand him my credit card)Cashier: You need anything else?Me: No(Cashier swipes my card, hands me the receipt to sign)Cashier: You need anything else?Me: Uh, I said no? (I sign the receipt and hand it back)Cashier: Geez sorry. You want me to put this in the bag for you?Me: No(Cashier hands me the game and my copy of the receipt)Cashier: You need anything else?Me: FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
6/13/2011 10:49:27 AM
i don't go there often, but i've never had any issuesmaybe they sense your weekness
6/13/2011 10:50:09 AM
I just use eBay
6/13/2011 10:52:51 AM
I go there once a weak, there's no way they can sense my weekness when I'm there that much
6/13/2011 10:53:55 AM
gamestop employees can sense your xboxlive / psn gamerscore like an aura
6/13/2011 10:55:34 AM
I was wondering who goes to the video game store often enough to have this bother them? And it is the job of the employee to push all of that stuff, that is how the make monies. This happens at most retail stores. I just try to be as polite as possible and tell them "no thanks" before they even begin their pitch. They usually get the point that i am not interested in any of the stuff they were about to pitch.and
6/13/2011 10:56:11 AM
why do they hire people that are always socialy akward
6/13/2011 10:56:41 AM
it's a video game store.
6/13/2011 11:03:14 AM
6/13/2011 11:04:50 AM
There is a dude who works at the one in Crossroads that is annoying as fuck. How can you live with yourself shamelessly peddling that corporate agenda crap 100 times a day. After my last encounter I will do everything I can to not go there again. Thought he was gonna follow me out the door until I got the card. I'm almost 30 dude, I am not interested in a Master Chief action figure.[Edited on June 13, 2011 at 11:24 AM. Reason : .]

the guy at the North Hills location acts like the free posters after preorder are the best thing in the world
6/13/2011 11:29:34 AM
But they are!
6/13/2011 11:40:24 AM
Me: "I would like to buy LA Noire, please"Him: "Would you like to pre-order Madden '15 ???!111?11"
6/13/2011 11:44:52 AM

6/13/2011 11:48:26 AM
i wanna buy my nephew a video game but i don't know much about them...i think he has an intendo
6/13/2011 11:49:53 AM
Best buy and Amazon. Haven't shopped at a Gamestop/EB Games/ etc since my horrible Halo 2 experience.I've about gotten to the point I refuse to buy anything I can't just order or walk in and pick up and carry to the cashier myself.
6/13/2011 11:52:59 AM
i was kinda pissed when Gamestop wouldn't transfer my CoD:BO preorder to a different location in Raleigh after I moved
6/13/2011 11:54:26 AM
lol when I went to pickup Marvel vs. Capcom 3 a few months ago the dude was like "Would you like to preorder Mortal Kombat?" after I told him no he said "Wow you're the first person today who bought Marvel vs. Capcom that didn't preorder it!" and I was like "No I'm not" and he said "Yeah you're right but my manager told me to say that to everyone". We both lolled.
6/13/2011 12:03:47 PM
Steam FTMFW.
6/13/2011 12:28:25 PM
AmazonMost of their games will come with a $10-20 credit for your next "electronics" purchase. Hard to beat that!
6/13/2011 12:33:08 PM
I haven't set foot in that hellhole in years, but the last time I did was to get some obscure RPG (i.e. Target didn't carry it) on the day it came out. I walked in, picked it up, put it on the counter, and pulled out my credit card."Do you have a Gamestop card?""No.""Would you like to sign up for one? You get a million dollarpoints and a subscription to a thing!""No.""It's a really good deal. You get many percents off of pre-owned games!!!""No thanks.""Would you like to preorder anything?""No.""What kind of games are you into?""I don't want to preorder anything.""You like RPGs? That's awesome! Do you want to preorder Madden 2069?""I don't play sports games.""What kinds of games do you like.""I don't like video games. At all."Cold stare."Would you like to preorder Rock Band 15?"And then I exploded.
6/13/2011 12:37:32 PM
Can you tell me the release date for Battletoads?
6/13/2011 12:40:05 PM
I love Gamestop. Where else can I show off my cool gear and my shapely legs free from the judgement of society?[Edited on June 13, 2011 at 12:41 PM. Reason : x]

6/13/2011 12:44:32 PM

6/13/2011 12:45:19 PM

6/13/2011 12:52:09 PM
dude man thats not cool
6/13/2011 12:52:39 PM
If you do have a game on preorder they use the "any games you're looking forward to" trap in a new way now.I've had a game on preorder over a couple years and went to pick it up and they ended up cancelling the one preorder to move the money to something else and trying to have me pay the full price on the game I already put $5 down on. I'm trying to end all ties I have with gamestop as their store managers are complete dicks about sales in some stores. Having been denied a game the day it came out cause I hadn't preordered it when they had surplus stock on the shelves and being told if I don't want it to happen again then I better preorder anything I want in the future now.
6/13/2011 12:53:02 PM
Gamestop is good for the occasional buy two get one free deal on used games if you haven't been buying anything for a while and there are a lot of older games out you've been meaning to pick up. And their even rarer extra 50% on trade-ins is usually not a bad deal either. For new games they're atrocious.[Edited on June 13, 2011 at 1:01 PM. Reason : .]
6/13/2011 1:00:54 PM
I've never pre-ordered a game. I go buy it when I got the time to play it. I can wait for it to come in the mail if need be.
6/13/2011 1:08:52 PM
I use to pre-order games back when I was a dumbass and didn't realize that they were going to press 50 million copies of any hot selling game anyway, so preordering was a waste of time and money outside of the most limited of the limited editions.
6/13/2011 1:11:46 PM
yep. you can only pick up a pre ordered game at the same location so its actually shittier
6/13/2011 1:16:20 PM
black ops was the first game ive preordered at a store, and that was only because I was trading in some games and decided to just put the trade-in amount towards it]
6/13/2011 1:16:49 PM
yeah, thats what i did. trading in older games and putting towards another game. figuring i'd be closer to the one store when it came out.now i'm just gonna go to best buy
6/13/2011 1:18:41 PM
Motherfuckers ask for your phone number and zip code when you trade stuff inLike I'm a terrorist secretly stock piling funds by trading in stolen video games
6/13/2011 1:20:54 PM
i stopped liking gamestop when they dumped pc games and went all console in their stores. I always rather enjoyed going to the store back in the day to browse the large selection of games but everything has shifted towards steam, amazon and d2d. Also Cheap Ass Gamer site is the slickdeals of gaming.
6/13/2011 1:22:51 PM
6/13/2011 1:27:32 PM
i went to the Red Dead Redemption midnight release and bought the game then w/o issueexcept the n00b cashier was like "uhh let me check if we can do that" and the stoner authority figure to him (same guy I referred to earlier) was like "SURE"
6/13/2011 1:30:22 PM
I also never trade my games in. Fuck it I like collecting them and hate getting 10 bucks from those bastards for a game I spent 60 on. I don't wanna further their cause.
6/13/2011 1:36:25 PM
you can trade in at Best Buy and even Amazon now. Plus Goozex is always a good option. No reason to step in those shitholes ever again
6/13/2011 1:48:00 PM
i'll just ignore all the comments about being weak or socially awkward since it's clearly you projecting your own social insecurities on someone else. this has nothing to do with not being able to handle social situations asses.anyway:
